I've heard many good accounts of interactions with GLH, but my own experience with Mike has been rocky. I'm very happy with how the light performs and I'm sure it is a great investment, but I had my share of problems along the way. Overall I think he just needs to hire some help and try to step back from doing everything himself. I know I would be overwhelmed with trying to run a company like that, especially alone like Mike does, and I don't hold my experience against him. I've heard so many more positive than negative experiences with him, that my own is just one of a few exceptions. I don't blame him for the issues I've had with getting the light in full and working condition, he is just slow to proceed with things which I found very frustrating. From the day he first sent the light out in late September, it took about two months before I was able to hang the light and begin using it.
I originally ordered a 290w from GLH, after more than a week without hearing back from Mike I called and he offered to upgrade me to a 500w unit (idk why so don't ask). It took another week before the light shipped out and it arrived damaged thanks to fedex. Mike said he'd send me a replacement with a return label for the damaged one, but it took about a month for me to get ahold of him again at which point he sent me just a return label and asked me to return the light I already had. He said he would repair it and send it back, rather than sending me a replacement first. I think this is understandable seeing as I payed by money order so it's hard for him to do that on trust. Two weeks later he sent the light back, having replaced the damaged parts and switching in the new power supplies which helps with the over-intensity issues people have had. When the light arrived, the power cord was missing, so I called Mike. He said he would send me one but still hasn't so I went to bestbuy last week and got one myself.
