Good thing I'm too poor to have Onstar.

ahhh no your not.

you can now buy the 'ONSTAR' package thing at Wal-Mart. In other words, you can put it on any vehicle now.

its' not just for GM/Chevrolet anymore.. :)

in fact, I know a guy that has it installed in his Plymoth/Chrysler Laser. LOL.. remember those cars?? bleh.. ugly.

This "tracking everyone and what they do, behavioral patterns" this stuff isnt new. That is why Google admits they can predict with 97% certainty what you're going to search.

I use an iPhone to browse RIU from work and as my primary phone, certain apps require you to allow "current location". Does apple consistently track you without having the track symbol and location consent on the screen and sell this info? I mainly use the current location feature when using my gps program which I find incredibly useful

Your smart phone doesn't know if you are using your seat belt or not. If your using your air conditioning, or how many total miles you've driven in a year. There are many things GM knows about you.

They are doing large volume tracking. They can tell Leo all kinds of things about you or groups. They can pull up how many gm cars are within 2 blocks of the Ferndale Compassion Club or that you drive-thru Mickey D's 2 twice a week and sell that to the life and health insurance companies and then sell it to Mickey D too.

If you have a smart phone it doesn't matter.

There might actually be a business in removing those parts from your car. They have a few people doing it now in Detroit.

I really don't do anything that my state law says I can't do. So I'm not worried about tracking. It's that I feel it is a violation of my rights.

I shouldn't have to opt out, I feel I should have to opt-in if I want them to have my information. And they wonder why people are pissed off at them and the government. Shhhsh

same thing a lot of the apps do on your smart phone. Its nothing new these days. Sadly....

For example: I have to call my credit card company every 4 months and tell them I want to opt out or they will start selling my information to marketing firms which really pisses me off!
