Well joint rollers its winter time up here in the great northwest so i thought i'd try to put together a new grow thread before spring. I had a bunch of spare parts lying around so i threw together a recirculating system last night and half assed documented it. i have built many of these little herb growing machines and love using them. any questions and/or comments are welcome i certainly dont have much else going at the moment. dead middle of winter and the superbowls over, holidays are over, fantasy football over = beeeg cheeling mon! without further ado, let me introduce you to my ladies:

these girls are in 5 gallon sterilite totes at approximately 17-18 days veg. being fed 1.0 ec of general hydro micro and bloom at 4:3 ratio. ph drifts from 5.6 to 6.2.

same good lookin babes 5-6 days later after being transplanted into 10 gallon totes. ec is now started at 1.15

I like it mang totally RDWC all the way from here on out for me man just a lil ingenuity and some knowhow can really make life a helluva lot easier mostly of all 1 res man get it popping works like a charm too! Ill be watching to see what u do with it..

Also bud u may lose alot of ur bug problems if u sitch the soil less and put hydroton,lava rock and even perlite in those net pots bro i think alot of those bugs come in the soil less and coco and shyt cause well alot of it manufactured with manure and such it only make perfect sence they could and very well should carry unwanted buggs into the garden man it only makes perfect sence if u think about it right?

Besides i feel like u will get the supreme growth explosion dureing veg thats known for dwc believe it or not i see alot of peeps main downfall in dwc is at the very beginning starting out alot of peeps over saturate there medium in return stunt growth on there beanlings and clones dureing the most crucial time at which we should be keeping them only moist hence makeing them babies dry up a lil and pop roots to grow searching for the medium(water) in return once those roots hit the water its all over from there.. Thats where the true growth starts happening when those roots hit the water and start Blowing up!

Just some food for thought to chew on..

i dont generally have problems with bugs except when i'm being a lazy ass. its always spider mites. i think what you're referring to is the knats that come in cocoa. i have none of these. i use dixie cups instead of netpots because i'm a cheapskate. i used net pots years ago and quickly tired of paying for them. the system that i use is cheap and performs very well. dixie cup filled 1/3 perlite next 2/3 sunshine #4 i plant low in the cup so roots are usually out within 2 days. my veg time is generally very short usually 16-18 days. the girls pictured vegged more like 25-26 days so if i can manage to keep my head out my ass these should be borderline trees when all is done. also i think you're right about moisture levels when plants are trying to establish a root system. too wet and you end up working against yourself.

these are from lastnight. as you can see the ec has dropped to 1.08, i'll probably add back some ph'd water tonight.

changed out the system two days ago and started at 1.31 ec. tonight it read 1.27. only thing that goes in is tap water, micro, bloom, h202 and a little advanced nutrients ph down...i'll try to get some pics before lights come on in the next day or two.

Sometimes veg time is more excitein form me medic breaks up the monoteny of all things n there aint nothin like springin beanlings specially those real nice hard fast healthy assed girls that r ready to blow mang u got shit nice tho healthy root start almost guaranteed to be an epic grow. Show!.

i was having a hard time uploading pics but i got it working this morning. i put them in sequence from first day of flip to lights out shot this morning day 22 of flower. i changed out last night and started at 1.33 ec, today they are at 1.27 so they are hungry.

one other point of interest: for the last year or so i have been experimenting with having some of my pumps on timers and some running 24 hrs a day. flat out i am getting better grams per watt using the timer. has anyone else tried this? i have read about magdrive pumps taking iron out of the solution. while admittedly my tests would certainly not be considered controlled scientific experiments, my numbers have been fairly conclusive. if anyone has any knowledge on the subject i would love to hear more about it.

Nice grow man. Its cool because like other grows out there it's been proven that you can get mass yields off of very few plants. The only downside is the veg time is increased and it requires lots of training. But man those pics sure look worth it. I've been scoping out alot of grows and I feel like i totally undervegged my bebe's but its cool no regrets. Now I have ideas for the next :)
