Gnats. No-till 30 gallon- help

Well the gnats have taken over.
Fresh soil mix in my new space. 30 gallon fabric pots. I did apply nematodes about 3-4weeks ago. They seemed to slow gnats down For a few days. But the last few days hasn’t been out of control.
Any new or great ways to get rid of these little shits. Driving me crazy. I have sticky traps basically cover ever foot of lower sub canopy.

I should mention I have some cover crops and straw mulch. Maybe that’s not helping?

Applied Dr zymes soil drench to one have and sns 203 to other half yesterday.

All and any advice or ideas!

1. make sweet coffee traps to drown the adults
2. place thin potato slices at the base of your plants
3. Sprinkle some cinnamon powder (very little) on the top of your soil.

After 2 or 3 days the coffee will attract them and end up drowning the adults.
After a day, flip over the potato and see the little fuckers attached to them. Throw away, place fresh slices.
Keep doing this for a week and they will be gone.
Make sure to lightly fork over your top substrate to keep it nice and dry, this will avoid the problem in the first place

If it's bad do a neem oil drench.

Then afterwards put some nematodes back in.

ACV with dish soap has always worked well for me with adult gnats. (Just a container with ACV and some dish soap, they land in it and die) That and/or a neem oil foliar.

I second this recommendation - you can mix the granules into your irrigation water, this will strip off the active ingredient - you can leave the granules in the water and irrigate as usual, or you can filter the granules out prior to watering the plants - either way, very plant and organic friendly and will decimate the larval population.

If I have a gnat problem, I'll use Moquito Bits in conjunction with yellow sticky traps - very effective.

Thanks all. The dr zymes seemed to really knock em down substantially. Over night really.
Going to just sprinkle some more DE and try to lighten up on The watering here on out. Do another soil drench if dr zymes in week to 10 days.

You know I just gave away some mosquito dunks that I had laying around for years. :( never thought of them for gnats. Gunna try this next time round ahead of time.

I've tried just about everything, Einstein oil as a spray and as a soil drench, I've used pytheryne spray worked good on living that's but isn't going to kill the younger life forms In the soil, I am trying not to use the pytheryne spray as I feel like its a pesticide of some sort, and the Einstein oil i don't like using cause of the smell kind of transferring to the taste/smell on the final product(the run I used it alot I could kind of taste it when I smoked) now i currently use the dunks plus the sticky traps but the gnats are always still there(not nearly as bad as before I used the dunks) it's pretty frustrating now I also have incorporated natures on sticky trap I call it

not gonna lie its fun watching it eat the gnats and it has definitely helped keep a more equal balance. I asked another well known member gio who i noticed uses Gaia green products like me if he had that's and he told me he used lost coast plant therapy and it took care of his spider mite and gnat problem, and he said he hasn't had a problem with them since. I just ordered some this weekend not sure how long its gonna take before it gets here but I will try and let you know if it works for me

I used to keep dunks in my RO reservoir until I determined that they were quite ineffective in my grow..

One day I tried out the bits, as mentioned above, and bam.. my problem was solved..

I hated those little bastards!

thanks ill have to try the bits, i figured the bits were the same as the dunks
ya its fun to watch looks like its got giant trichomes and the more it eats the bigger it gets:blsmoke:

A light dusting of diatomaceous earth on the soil and a few fly strips, weighted to avoid swaying in the breeze, always worked here. Just re-apply after a week. A couple times and gone. Then do it to prevent.

Dry soil and DE should do the trick after a couple weeks.

If possible, shove a piece of PVC pipe down into your soil, so you can sub irrigate. Watering from the bottom will prevent a bunch of bug problems

Nematodes to kill larvae in conjunction with yellow nontoxic sticky traps to kill adults IDK why you'd use anything else TBH...beneficial soil mites can help like hypos...DE is terrible it gets on fucking everythingg and its useless as soon as it gets wet, if you can find diatomaceous rocks and create a layer on top of the soil that works well. Even a couple inch layer of perlite on top can help. Just give the traps and nematodes time and they will disappear

Exactly what I did with my virgin no-till (cycle 1) when I had gnat issues. I hit them with mites, nematodes, and stickies. Oddly once I had a good humus layer built up and the pot became established, I don't even use sticky cards for monitoring anymore because I just haven't seen them in the last 6 grow cycles. Lots of other life in and on my soil though, but not the type that flies and sticks to my buds.

Same here. Had a few gnats the first round, but haven't seen any since. Funny thing is it's been like 7 cycles for me too. I didn't buy them separately though. All my predators came from EWC or vermicompost.
