Every site, and damn near tell us too use fish tank water for our plants. I should have known these people know nothing about the detailed inter workings of fish tanks. Should have known that they where dumb as fuck as well I guess.... Go figure.
My fish tank is super high in iron, as are most tanks. I never thought about it untill i really had / have an issue. I am prb just going to throw out my plants and start over w/ my other seeds now that I know my new system works well minus the tank water.
/end rant.

Umm ok. I have been keeping fresh and saltwater fish tanks for over 20 years. Freshwater fish tank water is great to give to any kind of plant because it is high in nitrogen and phosphorus from the fish waste and uneaten food, bacteria convert the fish waste/ammonia into nitrite and nitrate both forms of nitrogen. Aquaponics is solely based on this. If you tank water is high in iron then there is something off. Either you are adding iron because you have a planted tank which you done need to add light Co2 and fish waste is all you need, or you have something leaching iron into the water like a rusting pump impeller shaft or rusty house pipes. I from time to time water my plants with old fish tank water and never had any issues. I am even kicking around the idea of growing with aquaponics.
