So I noticed there are a bunch of squirmy wormies in my coir cups. I understand these things come around because the medium is too wet, but coir isn't able to be too wet, ya know? I don't like letting it dry out completely...

How can I get rid of these organically? I notice a LOT of larvae near the surface when I water, but only a handful of the actual gnats.

They don't appear to be hurting my seedlings really, but it seems pretty gross. :wall:

I'm taking a trip to the hydro store this Friday, so I can pick something up there...any suggestions would help. I've read a bunch but it all seems to be about soil and not coir!

Azamax or Mosquito dunks to get rid of larvae. Yellow sticky traps for flying (adult) gnats. Since they're seedlings, you might be able to completely remove the medium and transplant into non-effected medium. Too wet may help get them there, but is definitely not the sole reason for infestation. Consider a complete cleaning and a "home defense" or similar insecticide before putting your plants back in there.

man i literally JUST noticed these same larvae in my clone cups and gnats.........using ff and hf soil and rockwool cubes, help?

I'm also using FFOF. I notice the gnats a lot less in my soil than I do my coir.

I always have gnats, and I usually ignore them. To be completely honest with you, they generally don't do anything noticeably harmful. I'm just concerned this time because I can actually SEE the larvae.
