GOING FOR A 2 POUND GROW

So I have 2 successful grows under my belt . Both went great . But both have not given near the yield I am looking for . About 5-6 oz each grow so I'm really looking to go big this time around. So my whole thing is I'm looking for some ideas on the most optimal grow to hit that 2 pounds of some top notch flower. I know I'm going to go with LED lighting in a tent and I want to go Hydro so I can get the most and cleaner imo just wanna go for it too. I know I'm not interested in co2 . As far as the Hydro part of the grow im a complete noob so I'll need guidance.

you can get good yields from soil, coco, promix, hydroponics......it's not the method you use, it's how well you've mastered the method you use. i would suggest that you stay with the method you've been using, and perfect it, before you jump into a new method, and expect better yields before you master it. people growing in homemade super soil pull pounds per plant, same for coco, and promix.
hydro is faster, and you can get good yields, but not till you master it. a few people are lucky enough to jump in with both feet and do well off the bat, most are not so lucky. if you're dead set on hydro, i'd suggest starting with DWC, wait for RDWC till you get single plant units down. that way when something goes wrong, you won't lose everything, and something will go wrong....

Be sure you have the correct led lighting an the other guys have said everything else.

Go in the LED section of this forum so you dont end up buying cheap blurple light. Look for Quantum, samsung F-strips or COB.

You dont need a 8x8 - 8x4 should be fine to pull 2 pounds easily im currently using 530w of efficient LED and aimaing for 1 pound in a 4x4 -the way its looking I should reach my target and probably more.. keep in mind its my first grow - made few errors here and there so my next time will be even better.. look my journal if you want.. but as other mentionned to have your environment dialed in is also very important not just the light.. that include but not limited to airflow, temp, RH%, watering, feeding, genetics...

I grow in soilless with gavitas, easy pull 40/43 off a 1.2 metre tent on an 8 week strain. Hydro is bigger than soil/soilless is bull, hydro is faster early growth, but nothing you can't achieve with practice in any medium. As advised above, god damn I should read all the posts first)

That's an awesome yield out of a 4 x 4. I didn't think 40 odd ozzies would even fit!..lol.
SOG?

Light is kind of a bottleneck so while you can do different things to optimize your yield the light is always your biggest limiting factor. As far as hydro just be prepared for the maintenance, if it's not near a faucet and drain you'll be lugging water in and out for weekly reservoir changes, something I personally overlooked, not trying to scare you away from it but it's less forgiving than other medium i.e. soil because even a small problem can spiral out much faster and it's easier to make mistakes. As far as the rest a 5x5 could probably hit 2 pounds for a very good grower with everything going perfect, as long as it's got an optimal light to support it. Probably 4x8 would be the next step up and make it easier to hit 2 pounds but you gotta keep budget in mind as larger spaces need multiple lights and LED's are expensive for that much, no less than $400 for a light that can do a 5x5, and 2 barely weaker ones for the 4x8. If you want to be practical get a budget together and start seeing what you can afford cuz a big light and a hydro system alone are gonna strangle your wallet.

I will be more specific to my own set up.

2x260w hlg260w kits in one side of my 8x4
4 plants in coco in 5gal cloth pots
about 7 weeks veg time from clone (blue dream and incredible bulk)
Topped and super cropped and tied to horizontal stakes to fill the space and keep canopy roughly even.

Pulled me over 2lb last 5 harvests in 16 square feet.

Fill your space, light it well, keep plants healthy and don't chop early.

Wow I love roll it up! You guys are awesome I don't check this thing for a day and you guys hit me with all the info . So as a good owner of this thread I will try and reply to the best of my capabilities. First off thank you all for taking your time and reading my thread. I have 6 fem seeds germinating atm but before I start getting into the ideas that have changed since reading your guys info I want to let everyone know I work Monday through Sunday so it is hard for me to reply daily but you guys know how that is I imagine. ALRIGHT so here's the plan y'all tell how this sounds. 4x8, two 1k hps, in Coco since it's considered hydro , dialed in temps and humidity. I do have ac and a de/humidifier I had to get my last grows temps and % right. Just let me know you guys think I pretty much have a grand to put into this. I know together as a thread we can do this. GERMINATION IN PROGRESS

I love this right here . Your the reason I chose Coco I did research it really is perfect for me takes advantage of both perks, fast growing, no bugs, just a bit more often watering. I will say though you did not twist my arm or scare me I simply made a personal decision . So don't feel bad or nothing like that

Cool.

Get yourself two 1000w Metal halide bulbs or two 600w MH if you can dim those 1000w ballasts.
That will help with stacking those nodes closer to ultimately form longer more solid colas.
If your only doing 6 plants across the whole 8x4 then your going to want to train them and veg them a while.
Maybe consider a scrog if you can fit around your tent to train them. I mean a real scrog not just a net slung over some plants.

To be honest, 2lb in a 4x8 with 2000w should be a piece of piss. You just have to make sure you fill your space and keep them healthy.
If your going coco then go for at least 5gal cloth pots and water to 15-20% run off, don't go silly adding more nutrients than required, all that gains you is sick plants.

Yes sir. six large plants with a REAL scrog was the plan . I was thinking 7gal cloth pots but if 5 is enough I'll go with 5. idk how much of a difference the 2 gallons would make. As far as nutrients I was just gonna get a bottle of connoisseur Coco part a grow For veg if I need something else let me know.

If you were planning on 7gal then go with that. It can only help.
As far as I know connoisseur coco range nutrients come as a part a and b and you need both parts. two part grow and a two part bloom.
I would just go with any simple coco range nutrient. They all work, some are cheaper than others.
A bottle of cal/mag in case its needed, which will greatly depend on genetics and water source. Better to have it and not need than need and not have.
