Going on holiday from UK to EU

Hi,

I'm just wondering if any of the UK RIU members have any advice about travelling from a northern UK airport to destinations in the EU. The destination in question decriminalised drugs in the early noughties but I'd rather not have the ball ache of scouting out pot from street dealers in a foreign country!

Stuff will be triple vac sealed and washed just to be sure! Then put in the suitcase that is checked into the luggage hold (not carried on).

My main questions are - will the weed (some blond moroc. hash) be picked up on an x-ray - i.e. if I just wack it in my wash bag (or shampoo bottle?), will they see it when it goes through the scanner?

&

Will they stop me from getting on the plane if it gets captured?

i once flew into a "northern uk" airport from amsterdam with a 5g bag of chocalope gold in my pocket. and i know guys who travel all over the world with hash in their socks. but i would never suggest you smuggle drugs. but yes, they will pull you off the flight if they find it.

Put it in a non secure sidepocket of your travelbag. That way incase of a trial you can say: its not mine, someone must have put it there when i wasnt around. Then say a prayer and hope they believe you.
Travelled always with small amounts of pot never got caught. But its a risk what can blow your holiday

I'll be travelling outbound from the uk - and pot will be triple vacuum sealed (ordered from a popular mail order service ) and in the luggage that you can check in at the desk (i.e. not the carry on bag).

Smell is obviously not an issue because of the vacuum sealing. I'm more worried about if it shows up on the x-ray that they use to scan the suitcases that go in the luggage hold (in the belly of the plane). Has anyone ever known of a traveller getting summoned to the front desk after checking their bag in because they found contraband and if so did they miss their flight?

I know I'm probably being mega paranoid but I'm the kind that likes to know the odds before betting...

i got called out of the departure lounge in seattle once cause of some party poppers that were in my siutcase, apparently they are classed as an explosive i just told them to bin 'em and went back, luckily didnt miss my flight, but im gonna guess if you were being questioned about weed it might take a bit longer

Really want to avoid plugging - my anoos is an exit not an entrance

Plus - not sure if the new body scanners can pick up stuff in your poo pouch? I'm travelling with a group of about 10 dudes (yup, it's a stag do...) so at least a few of us will be probed and poked so taking it in hand luggage or on my person is a no no...

I'm just worried about it stopping me (or the rest of the party) from getting on my flight if I get captured.

Really hate hunting pot on holiday, the disappointment, the scams, dodgy folk etc...

Wonder how they saw the party poppers - could it have just been an unlucky spot check or maybe it shows up on the baggage scanners?

I've been told that airports use mass spectrometers to detect explosives etc...

Don't know how good they are at detecting pot. Also - I wonder if being in a big-ish group will make the suitcase a target for a spot check...

I flew from the Dam into Spain, I used a smelly proof bag and rolled a handfull of joints (I also could not be bothered smoking shit street gear, and you normally only get hash from dealers in Spain and I don't smoke tobacco so that's always an issue as well). Ironed up the bag, wiped down with alcohol, put it inside a bag full of breakfast cereal (it kind of looked like those little silver foil bags that cereal companies give your kids silly cheap chinese made toys in). The benefit of flying from Dam to Spain is that it is a Shengen country so no passport/customs control.

I would lay a bet on you being okay, especially if its a common destination for Stag do people. Customs are not looking for lads who bring in a small bit of hash and I would also bet that there will not be any drug sniffer dogs checking luggage from a Budget Airline full of pissed up Brits.

Wherever this country is, if it's mainland Europe the airports will not be used for bringin in large quantities of drugs as people can fill up lorries and drive them over the borders without getting checked. The only country in Europe that I have ever seen customs at is France. They often stop cars full of young lads (normally of Morccan decent) coming back through Belgium into France.

No matter what you do to mask the smell, a sniffer dog would smell it. Then customs would probably scan the bag, not see any large bails of organic matter, and then just pass it on. A friend came back from the Dam and had 5 grams of weed, just in a zip bag (so absolutely stinking his case up) and he got his bag in the UK with a "security Checked" sticker on it and just walked off home. No problemo.

Personally, I wouldn't do it but.......
Many years ago I came back from Germany routed via the Dam on a coach. We got into Victoria station at silly a.m. in the morning and the coach was searched by dogs. One was very friendly and I was playing with him for a good ten minutes after I could have left the station.
After I got home, I found an 8th of hash I had lost and assumed to be gone in my condom pocket.
I can only assume that the handler mis-read the dogs friendliness and my lack of concern.
Unfortunately, I am now known through association (my ex was a convicted smuggler) and my suitcases get ripped to pieces if I travel.

I'm more worried about X-ray funnily enough, I don't think airport security will be looking for drugs going outbound from uk to this destination (decriminalised in 2001).

decriminaled since 2001, im from portugal

Recently went to Spain, just to be safe posted some oil to the hotel we were staying at. It was at the desk when we checked in... A lot safer than potential smuggling charges. Although you do have to put your real name on the parcel which kind of sucks, but guess they would just intercept as usual if they did pick it up in transit.

Shortly after 2001 I was flying with my book-bag as carry-on.. I was a physics/chem student and I had spilled everything needed to make TNT and nitroglycerine on it over the years.. They scanned it with their chemical sniffer and it came up clean..
