Going to California

I'd say it would be a great place to come to from Orlando. It's the only place I've ever been where I can go to the beach, and the snow in the same day. Hot in the summer and a bit cold in the winter. In the central valley it rarely dips below freezing. I think Travis Air Force Base is right up here in Vacaville. I recommend Northern Cali, but anywhere would be awesome. Santa Cruz is beautiful, Tahoe is awesome, and anywhere else is fantastic.

Don't move to Tahoe unless you love living in a place that gets polluted with tourists. El Dorado county is a very liberal county, though, so that's good.

That's just messed up. If you lose your health and fitness, you've lost THE most important thing in your life. Don't fuck yourself up just to get a fucking card.

Look into the counties in the Sierra as many of them have the best local laws regarding what a person can have on hand. For instance, last time I looked Calaveras county (think "Paint Your Wagon" even though it was filmed in Oregon was pretty close to how it actually is) allows up to 2oz. for those with a med card.

Believe me, work is HARD TO FIND, cost of living is extremely high, though better than the Bay Area. Wages do NOT adequately compensate for the difference in cost of living. The state, however, is gorgeous, abso-fucking-lutely gorgeous.

Why is that? I live in SoCal and I love it. I have also lived up north very close to where FDD lives and it's nice too. California is great all around.

my wife is looking at a transfer to burbank what aresome nice cheap suburbs in that area.. i have never been to cali i am an eastcoast boy but it is sure tempting.... i am in the resturant industry out here and to be honest i worry about getting a job in cali any advice from the west coast posse

You gotta be kidding me, a cheap suburb in Burbank? Uh uh, if you want cheap you're gonna end up in East L.A., Watts, Compton, shit like that. Or, Inland Empire (two hours out, and yes, LOTS of people do it), yee-motherfuckin'-haw.

Have you checked out sites like realtor.com to see about home prices? I assume you're going to be looking to buy, maybe if you come in pre-qual'd you could snag a nice foreclosure.

Lots of people make that commute here from the IE into LA or OC, my mom worked in Long Beach for 18 years doing it. The traffic is worse now but it took her about 90 minutes one way on average, could get much longer. It was something like 50 miles, she would leave at 4am and it would still be over an hour.

I however work 7 miles from home, live in Riverside on the border of Corona and work in Norco.

Living in Cali is like living in two different states. Socal is much like Fla. minus the humidity. Nocal is much like Ore. Cool, wet, rainy on the coast, much warmer inland tho' in the summer. Humboldt Co is the best!! Arcata (even has a CSU) allows anyone with a 215 card, to grow up to 99 plants (for their own use) in their home. We currently have 2-3 clinics with a variety of species for smoking or growing. However, food, gas, etc. for the most part are all more expensive, gas has been over $3.50+ for weeks. Growing, up here is second only to tourism these days. GL with your move, don't believe San Francisco is in Nocal, there's 400 more miles to go north before you even get to the Ore. boarder. GL HH

love so cal but so damn expensive .....213 east los here .....love it ....the lifestyle and all is wut makes me stay....you just get use to it since you grew up in these conditions...but as for you moving on to so cal every places has its goods and its bads...if u lookin for nicer in so cal try checkin out San Diego but for more affortable living ur best bet is in the I.E or deeper L.A (south gate,watts,paramount,cpt ect............good luck tho

i have no idea about burbank or any of the surrounding areas... i just know my wife can transfer to a studio there.actually probably looking to rent for ahwhile to see if we like it.i mean i pay 1200 a month now for a 3 bedroom house 8 miles from a city in the southeast and am going to be looking for a 1 or two bedroom.

I've lived in SoCal my whole life. I hear NorCal is nice, I'd like to try living somewhere different, but still in the state of CA. Because yeah, I love living here.

I don't think I really started to appreciate how cool it is here until I started reading people's stories about getting busted for a little bit of weed. I'm beginning to view other states like hostile foreign territories, because hostility towards weed, is hostility towards me. I'm just going to stay safely in my own state, where they don't trip on my weed.

I used to work in Ontario and lived in riverside. Does norco still smell like cows? or is that Chino?

There are no more cows in Norco really, just houses that were pushing a million dollars and horses. I'm not a big fan of the place, lots of republicans and wannabe good ole boys.

Spoken like a true San Franciscan, surrounded by people, cars, and concrete, lol. I prefer green trees, mountains, ocean, and open spaces. Left LA 38yrs ago and never looked back. However, I do understand why not everyone wants to live up here (sort of), but if everyone decided to live up here I'd be forced to move again. On second thought, y'all just forget about what I said earlier about Arcata (Humboldt Co.) and smoke a big one for me. GL HH
