If you want to see the package I am going to get, look here:

www.greners.com
Once on the site, go to:
All Growing Supplies/Package Deals/Grow Room Packages/Grow Tent Packages/ select the one below that's $855.95:

[h=1]4'x4' Air Cooled 600W Grow Room Package - CO2 Ready[/h]
This package has the Secret Jardin Dark Room Pro DR120 II Grow Tent. You can see what else comes with it (including a photo) to get an idea of the best way to set it up. I'm not against going with a different package if you think a different one would suit my needs better. I doubt I would ever grow more than 5 plants at a time. What I like about the 4x4 is that I'll have a little more area to move around inside, and more room for equipment inside.

I have communicated with greners via email. I have no problem with setting up the tent itself; there are plenty of videos that show how to do that. They are not very interested in helping me with setting up the tent configuration, however. They will of course help with installing their products. I will need help as far as where to put the carbon filter and fans etc.

Their kit does not include a fan speed controller, which I would like to get. I understand you can control the tent temp this way. Any recommendations for a good one?

I have five seedlings that are three days old, Blackberry feminized, that will be grown in 3 gallon bags.

Also, they recommend getting an additional fan. I have no clue how I would configure that or what to connect to what. Would I need a 2nd speed controller? They may have recommended the 2nd fan for the CO2 option. I don't know. I am a little afraid of the CO2 option, because I don't understand about getting an oxygen tank or a butane burner or whatever is needed.

I will be doing this by myself. I first started posting here in February when I was facing heart surgery, and was going to buy a pre-made closet. I just found out I don't need surgery , so I'm going the tent route. You have all been so supportive, and I trust you guys will help me out!

I am going to update my profile now if you're curious...

I know there are other Jardin tent users out there! Please help me get started with setup before it gets here so I'll understand what to do. Thanks!

You guys rock!

Looks like a good set up!

You didnt need all the fancy "brand name" shit but it never hurts if youve got the money

Check out my journal. i use a 600 in a 4x4 for my flower so you can get some ideas. so you can see how i run my cooltube with carbon filter.

Also they probably said youd need an exxtra small booster fan (about $20)

just to get some more air moving across the plants stems to strengthen them.

good luck with this!

Hey there, budbro18. I checked out your journals and they are great! The photo of the carbon filter connected to the air cooled lamp was especially helpful. It's cool that you're using the same tent, at least it looks the same. Same size tent and lamp wattage, anyway. It looks like I can grow a lot more than I thought! Your plant containers look really neat.

I am using a separate closet for my seedlings. It only has a 125W CFL for now. The fixture will also take a 200W lamp, but I doubt I will need to do that since I will be getting the tent. I am thinking of getting a fixture with four T5s for future use in that closet. Do you think that will be enough light for seedlings, vegetative growth and keeping a few mother plants? That way I can get a head start on the 2nd grow before the first is finished.

I am using an adjustable-height oscillating fan set on low right now (and not oscillating), set at some distance from the seedlings. It helps keep the temp steady. And those little stems look sturdy!

Thank you for your input. You've always been quick to respond to my questions, and I REALLY appreciate it!!

I plan to start a journal today. I have a lot of photos and notes from day one. I'll be sure to send you a link to it. In the meantime, good luck on your current grow, too, and hope to hear from you again soon.

No problem! yeah i dont have a branded secret jardin but theyre all the same thing haha

A t5 fixture will definitely work fine for some mothers and clones and seedlings.

Everything else sounds good you probably wont need a spare fan.

Just make sure you get your heat under control and do some dry runs before you throw precious plants in there haha

Don't worry about CO2 just yet... master the basics in your tent first and then you will have a much better understanding.

I've set-up many a tent for myself and others... let me know what problems you think you'll have... The one thing Greners need to include in those packages that they don't already is a small clip-on fan to go in the tent to circulate the air... Look into getting one of these:

Yes, budbro18, I will definitely do some trial runs!

Thanks PersonalJesus for the advice about the clip-on fan.

Do you think I should get a speed adjuster for the other fan(s) in the tent? I've read that they help control the temp in the tent, and I've certainly found it to be true in my grow closet. Should I also get a MH bulb? It comes with a HPS.

Here's what the guy at greners responded to me about where to put the carbon filter and why they recommend a 2nd fan:

If you have the space on the ground, then I would leave it on the ground. You would have a second fan for intake into the tent, as the filter with fan attached will be for exhausting the air out of the tent. You could set it up in one of the port holes of the tents, or have ducting connected to the fan and then poke through the port hole; either way works.

What do you think about what he said?

I am planning on ordering it tomorrow. My seedlings can't wait if it takes a while to get here.

Anyone with more suggestions, now is the time!

I have a very similar setup and control my fan using a variac (variable transformer). It's not a cheap way to go, but I've found it ideal. I can dial my fan waaay down to the point of silence when the door is closed. With some snoopy visitors that makes for peace of mind. cn

I think you can get just as good or better for 1/2 the price. Try Amazon.com.. they have grow tents, lights, fans, timers, even hash bags and GH nuts all you need.. See if you can build you own kit with what you want and then check the price. I bet you can do better.

Okay, Amazon here I come. I will still get the Jardin tent, though. I've researched the ones on Amazon already. But for fan controllers etc. Amazon does have good prices. Thanks for the info about not needing another tent fan (except for the clip-on) and steering clear of co2 for now. This will definitely save me some $s. I'm an easy sell, so I appreciate your comments. I'll let you know what I end up with. Later!

I did it! I ordered the 4x4 tent package from greners. I wanted to get good products that will last. Amazon's prices were actually higher on some items, or they didn't carry what I wanted. It should be here next week sometime. That'll give me enough time to get my room ready. I also ordered the Speedster fan controller (which they said would work fine with this setup), a MH bulb and two 6" clip-on fans. My seedlings are looking great. I'm going to change my avatar to a photo of my very first seedling, Lady. I still don't understand how to connect the carbon filter to the ducting that goes through the lamp -- even though he tried to explain it to me at greners. I'll look at your photo again, budbro18. Be talking to you all again soon.

You need 6" hose clamps.

Set it up like this

>>> indicates air flow

carbon filter>>>>ducting>>>>fan>>>>ducting>>>>cooltube>>>ducting>>>>>exhaust port out of room. or wherever you plan to vent.

My grow medium will be FoxFarm Ocean Forest mixed with LightWarrior, about a 2/1 ratio with LightWarrior being the lesser amount. I started the seeds in rockwool. I plan to transplant the seedlings at about 2 weeks to tall drinking cups, then to 3 gallon bags after that. I'm not sure yet when they will need to be transplanted for the first time, but I'll know when I see the roots coming out of the rockwool. The nutes I will be using are General Organics, the "Go Box". I won't use any nutes until the 15th day. The guy at the shop where I bought the nutes, said to use them full strength exactly as the box says.

Okay, I think I see what you mean budbro18. I was thinking there had to be additional ducting for outside air to go through the cooltube, too. Or is there?

I have that tent. Best method I've found for set up, is to get the tent itself (the material bit) set up in the right position, then open it all up. You build the frame, beginning with the base within the tent material, then the back of the frame, which can enable the tent to be lifted onto the frame - then continue building around until the entire frame is completed and you can manipulate the rest of the material around it and close it up.

I am basing that on memory. Been over a year since I've done it. The important bit to remember though, is work out the shape of tent material and set that in position first; then build the frame within it. Building the frame first then trying to fit the material around it is nearly impossible (notice the word 'nearly' there - this is meant to show that it is possible, I did it, and what a fucking trauma it was. wouldn't wish that on anyone. LOL).

You need a mh bulb for vegging and a hps for flowering.

Thats exactly how i do mine haha

If you want more air movement tape the flaps on the bottom of the tent open.

my tent... a GL80... has vents about 6 inches up from the bottom that can be velcro'ed open. I leave these open all the time as they are equipped with screening to block dust and they're far down enough to not let in light at the plant. With the carbon filter/exhaust blower running it creates negative pressure thereby sucking in fresh air constantly.
I don't know if you're tent has these vent openings or anything like it, that may be easier than running a separate set of ducting...

other than that your set-up looks good.
