gonna be an interesting year

last year i started tilling my garden on March 25th. it is nearly a month later than that and it's still raining here. 10 day forecast calls for rain into next week. we get a day of sun then it pours. it takes at least 2 weeks for my garden to dry out to the point of tilling. then a week or two from there to planting. at this rate i should have plants outside by June.

they are inside under a few 600 hps's right now, ... 013.jpg

that was mid repotting session. i have twice that many under there now.

I'm in So Cal and it's raining right now. A winter friggin' storm. I've only got a couple of Easyryders on my balcony, but they are behaving differently. I looked at them yesterday and noticed that the pistils have a pink/purple hue to them. I'm guessing that's a result of the uncommonly low temps. Can't complain too much, because we desperately need the rainfall.

it would be cool if it were warm rains, but it's freezing. it hailed yesterday as we were driving and i seriously thought something was going to break. it left an inch of hail in the bed of my truck. it was nuts, and freezing cold. gets way cold at night and stays cold all day. feels like november only greener.

all our lakes are full.

I read your post yesterday, but it didn't occur to me to cover my plants last night. Sure enough, overnight the hail made it's way South. I expected to see my plants ripped up, but they seem to have survived just fine. Should be drying out over the weekend. I turned off the pilot to my gas heater and stowed the heatdish at least a month ago. Last night I had to bring the heatdish back out. This is not why I overpay to live in SoCal.

We need more rain to increase our vegetation. Which, in turn, will become dry as a bone thru the summer and spontaneously combust during the Santa Ana's, destroying thousands of acres and doing considerable property damage and potential loss of life. Then during the rainy season, without the vegetation on the hills, we get the cool mudslides which should do more property damage. Keeps a lot of people employed. Then we start all over next year. Another day in paradise.

it works great sorting popcorn buds. i'll only use it for that if i can get away with it. i prefer hand trimming the good stuff. i will save me days of work just on the popcorn buds alone though, so it's worth it to me.

Sub.

FDD - what light schedule do you have your girls on? do you match things up to the hours outside? Thanks.

I think I'll have to start a journal this season. Trying to get my girls out on the 15th.

my plants are on 18/6 when inside. the lights come on at 5pm and go off at 11am. when it comes time to put them outside they will go straight into the ground.

hopefully i can get the tiller out in the next few days. i need a week of dry before the soil dries out. it rained yesterday.
