a 250watt can make plants as nice as a 400watt so long as the watts per square foot is equal.

Correct?

Any links to good 250watt grows? what would be an idea size tent for a 250watt?

Hey Greg, I'm not a top grower but I do OK. I'm on a 250w HID and just started to use some T5s for side lighting. I pulled a total of 4 oz off two plants on my last grow w/o the T5s.

Yes in theory it will have the same results. However the 600watt is crazy efficient and probably cant be compared.

Sort of! That old "50 watts per square foot" thing is only a "Rule of thumb", and much more importantly, it is only applicable to HID lighting. CFL's require more wattage per sq. ft. (75 - 100 watts per sq. ft.). L.E.D.'s require a lot less than 50 watts per sq. ft.

The real deciding factor isn't how much electricty the bulb uses; it's how much light the bulb produces. There are many oppinions on how many lumens per sq. ft. is optimal, but about 5,000 lumens per sq. ft. (more or less) is right about in the middle.

250W of HPS would good for about 3'x2' while 250W of high quality white leds (cxb or vero 2.0) will fill up a 4'x2'. A lot of it depends on how tall the plants get.
