Good beginner strains?

What is everyone's recommendation for beginner strains? I'm in ohio. I will grow both outdoor as well as indoor. I am looking for high yields... not to concerned about the levels... but no cbd strains.
I would preferably like to grow feminized strains. I will be using fox farm ocean forest soil and not feeding any extra nutrients and switching to 12 12 on day 17 or so. And I would use a 3-5 gallon pot with a 1000w hps light air cooled in a 4×4 tent

Well Im not sure about this beginner strains, from my understanding all plants grow the same, that is you can grow a tomato the same way you can grow a white widow. I would suggest bag seeds, or cheap seeds while you learn how to grow. That's what im doing, I am using bag seeds, untill I learn how to produce healthy big flowers.

Now about your growing medium, I think FFOF soil is a good choice, but I am not sure if you can complete a full grow on a 5 gal pot without adding some amendments in flower. We need more experienced people to come and comment on this aspect.

damn kneecapped yourself there, no Cbd? may i ask what's your aversion to cbd?

to answer the thread the strains that have been fair to me asa rookie ar as follows
big bud
super lemon haze (can take some humidity)
gmo cookies (hash machines)
Northern lights
Blue dream (easy heavy yielder in the summer/ peak light)
gelat.og
gorilla glue
monster (eva seeds)

You will need to feed it through flower. And to be honest most strains are pretty hardy. I did my first grow with white rino n it was amazing. Kinda hard to find now. But white widow should do as well. Northern lights is a easier strain as well and gg#4 does well too, Detroit diesel I mean most are fairly straight forward.

Tend to take punishment well and still produce nicely. I would look for Black Domina (Indica) and liked Sensi Seeds version. White Widow (Hybrid) and I enjoyed the Seedsman version of this strain. Blue Cheese (Indica) and Barney’s Farm version was amazing. If you’re doing that short of a veg time, then 5G grow bags should be fine for an indoor grow. My first ever attempt at growing had the BD and BC strains along with 6 other strains. I dealt with a mite issue from a Cinderella 99 clone and they got to my Gorilla Bomb and my GSC encountered a light leak from my tent zipper and revegged on me. The 2 plants listed were besides these gals and came out fine with no health issues. Looking back I could of let my BD go at least 2-3 weeks more, but I was new and impatient

your definitely going want to feed using a HID light. Especially in flower its happened a lot on here it seems. if i used a pre bagged soil after finding out the content(NPK) of what's in it, i will make sure to amend the mix slightly to account for the deficiency that will occur later

Auto Northern Lights FEMINIZED. Like growing pot on training wheels for first time growers. Really important for new growers to successfully take a plant full cycle. Then you can go to photoperiod plants.

I guess cbd just isn't my thing really. I may look into it though.

i can respect that . Medically speaking mixing it with high Thc flower makes for a longer state of medication and helped me keep my tolerance down for awhile at least. but cheers to you i want trying to give you shit just genuinely curious at to to your methodology

If you can find white skunk from white label seeds you will not be disappointed. They were my first hydro grow and I screwed up a lot with her and still got 11 oz of her. The grow is on here somewhere if you wanted to look for it. Plus they were cheap midweek has some for like 30 a pack. I will be picking some up as soon as my other order comes in from them.

Why are you switching to 12/12 on day 17? Also I'm in south west Ohio you are really running out of time to do outdoor grow from seedlings in fact I would skip outdoor until next year.
Let the ladies tell you when they are ready to switch and hungry etc. I personally just got some cherry-gar-see-ya from ethos I ordered from getseedsrighthere.com used Google pay received them in exactly 7 days.
What part of Ohio are you in.

This isn't even remotely true. Genetics make a huge difference and all kinds of strains grow differently. And that's true for tomatoes as well as cannabis. Many heirloom tomatoes are far more challenging to cultivate than modern hybrids.

Many cannabis strains are more challenging to grow than others. Pure sativas for instance can be seriously challenging for indoor growers. They stretch an immense amount and can require wonky lighting schedules to get them to finish flowering.

Likewise, certain strains can be more or less nutrient sensitive, heat sensitive, sensitive to stress, more likely to herm etc.

I always suggest people start any hobby with the proper tools and supplies. Cheaping out can often lead to headaches down the road.

I'm not saying not to grow bag seeds. Some will give great results. But asking for suggestions on good beginner strains certainly isn't an outlandish request.

Any feminized gear from @Useful Seeds (available at DCSE and JBC Seeds) or @thenotsoesoteric (esosseeds.com) would be a great place to start. I also found Dino Party Chucks (Dinopartychucks.com) gear to be really reliable and easy to grow. Theres a ton of other good breeders to start with but the price point for those guys makes them my usual suggestion. You won't be out a $200 pack if things don't go well. @HydroRed (3thirteen seeds) is also awesome but I don't think he has any fems available anywhere right now.

Also, as mentioned, you'll definitely need to feed more nutrients. Ocean Forest really only feeds for about 4 weeks, sometimes less. It will get you through veg but you'll need something more for flower.
