Good Deal?

Hey guys, I've been creeping on the site for a few months now and I think I'm finally ready for my first grow. I wanted to ask your advice whether or not I should buy this used setup. Well here it is:
Lumatek 1000 Watt ballast
XtraSun 6 inch air coolable reflector
3 extra bulbs
Sunblaze 48 T5
Botanicare 25 site Power Cloner with heat mat
Eco Tester pH2 digital meter. with pHup, pHdown liquid
2 inline fans 100cfm
1 squirrel cage fan 650 cfm
Dual outlet air pump
High output submersible pump
And some other extras
I'm torn because I had wanted a 600 watt lumatek but I can't find one used.
For a price of $550 is this too good to be true and should I just do it?
Will the 1000 watt be that much hotter?

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I might have to go for it. The ballast would run you $250 minumum, hood another 100. $50-100 for the T5, $150 for the squirrel cage. $50 for the pH pen. Thats about $600 right there. So you're basically getting bulbs, extras, cloner, timers...for free not to mention not paying tax.

I'd go for that for sure..

I dont want to be a pesamest but i killed alot of plant tell i got my first harvest. An if i could do it over again id start with somthing cheepo (bagseeds ,cfls, stealth, maybe box autoflowers) to get your themb green, sell some of your grow to get better equiptment.

Regardless, the answer to whether or not it is a good deal is yes.
In reality, you likely aren't going to pull the kind of weight to be able to buy quality equipment using CFL's start to finish unless you invest a stupid amount into CFLs, fixtures, etc (it seems people spend comparable amounts on a large amounts of CFLs when they could use almost the same amount to buy a 400w HPS). If you are serious about growing, take your time to learn all that you can on here, and have the time and devotion to give to you plants, buy the set up; if you have doubts about any of those, don't.

is the seller trustworthy? its a good deal....almost too good in fact......

I have to disagree, you should go all out and get everything you need before you start, not waste money and time on a cfl grow that wont do much at all unless you invest some serious cash. even if he did fuck up the first one he would be learning what he needs and that for that grow setup/system. whats the point of doing a cfl grow and getting used to that setup and style of growing when you'd have to re-learn the best way for the setup and style when you switch to the hps?

I know, an i wish i had that set up my self, but a friend of mine just bought some bad ass hydro set up for his closet an a 600 hps light, He killed hundereds of dollars in seeds, got busted by his dad (who trew it all away lol). Dude was out like a grand an still never got any bud.

If this isn't your friend hooking you up or doing a favor I'd be very cautious. if it is then I'd give him a bunch of my harvest I'd say use bag seeds to grow at first, even if you just get them a foot tall and kill them to put designer genes in. losing $150 worth of seeds because you didn't know how bad your water was sucks, trust me.

thats not a bad idea, but a fair amount of seeds are not that expensive, lol, you can get 10 autoflowering short riders from nirvana for about 30 non-fem and 35 feminized. thats 3-3.50 a seed. imo those would be perfect to atart off with.

damn, thats a terrible story. do you mean his dad threw the lights and all that out too? It would be one thing if he just killed the plants and got rid of them but I dont think i'd be able to forgive if they went so far as to throw away the whole deal, even if it was my dad.

nice deal reguardles but.... im sure those extra bulbs are old ones and not in there prime

As long as the seller is someone you trust with your life. He is going to know a BIG secret of yours. If he got busted growing, or had a falling out with you, would he keep his pie-hole shut?

thats a very good point, I recently had a friend who could no longer grow buds and he offered me a really nice price for it all but I'm torn over wether or not I can live with him knowing that im growing.(currently he thinks I used to grow, which is true, but I left out the part that i still do. lol.) He told me he grew fairly soon after meeting him(within a month or 2) so it seems like he has problems keeping his mouth closed, lol, if he's that careless with the info that he was growing I cant see him being very careful with his info on other peoples grows. I think im just gonna tell him that I'm buying it all for the future when I do start growing again.

i would just "buy to resell" then use it yourself
