Pretty much the same reasons here. I found him extremely shallow and annoying. He was an icon of our age and I often wondered what that meant.I was around 6 or 7, Dad wanted to go see a Martin-Lewis movie( he loved Dino), I didn't want to go cuz by then I really disliked JL. Mom asked why and I said "He's always the same in everything and it's boring and he makes too much noise". Mom was proud and thought I was so mature; alas I disabused her of that notion quite soon
Speaking of which, how is the chicken job going? Still in the tent? We were wondering about you the other day.Another dead person, holy shit!
Yup and that is one of the dichotomies that interested me from my parent's generation. How could anyone enjoy that? Yet he had good qualities too, even if they were not PC. He tried, but with flawed perspective, almost culturally tone deaf.He did good work for MS, but he literally could be "The Jerk"

He said something in '01 about if people in wheelchairs did not want to be pitied they should just stay home. I also did not care for his brand of comedy.
"the illiterate faggot"
Lewis was as gay as the day is long. Self-loathing is never pretty.
I thought the controversy was about him making fun of illiterates ......oh well
Hey I'm illiterate , and we're a lot of fun.
So was Jesus. Illiterate, not fun...
It was only a feeble attempt at humor .
Poor taste , I know , but only directed at myself. I can tell you are passionate about education , I respect that.
