Somebody else needs to answer this..yeah ive only got 300 bucks to get something although my friend has a metal halide and it isnt hot would that be safe to put in a closet and would that be a upgrade for flowering from the t5 4 bulb
I don't know that much about T5 lights. Don't they put out quite a bit of lumens? I'm not sure people usually flower with them though, but I have no idea really.
Depending on the wattage of the metal halide, it is probably an improvement over the T5. If you have a choice though high pressure sodium would be better for flowering than metal halide (in theory at least).
Maybe they make T5 flower bulbs? I don't know.... that would be nice.
As far as safety.. just make sure it is vented alright and obviously doesn't get too hot. Enclosed light fixture (lens for reflector) is nice in case the bulb explodes... some horror stories of fires starting that way.
