my man you just made me happy lookin at your plants. i have a 2 bulb 48" dual grow lamp, and one other random 50 watt grow light, plus the aerogarden lights so i think ill be good for this. im just so excited because the master kush i got is mold and fungi free, short and i wanna see how many plants i can get in it. When i put the pump into the aerogarden will i want to turn the stock pump off? this is bad ive been unable to sleep all night... i wanna grow badly.

Haha I feel ya man. Keep it on, the more bubbles the better. I'd buy an air pump with 2 or more holes ( I have an air pump with 4) So I just put 2 extra stones in each of my AG's
I'd start with 2 or 3 in the AG if they are super small like my russian rocket fuel 9it's only like 10 inches! but it's bushy)

So in other words you had to turn it into a dwc? For anybody reading this thread and thinking about buying one of those things, don't. A 5 dollar bucket and an air-pump would do the same thing. I understand you guys are going to use what you got, makes sense, but you were ripped off, no two ways about it.

I totally get japan freak. his bucket idea is cheap as hell. I just think itl be cool to just experiment with the aerogarden. and as he said to later on use it as a cloner.

alright so i just went shopping and got some stuff.
perlite
dyna grow liquid grow (ill stick with it because my local shop has it along with fox farms)
soil moist granulates
peat pellets ( theirs no rockwool here)
60 to 100 gallon high output pump... i think it might be kind big for the aerogarden lol
I also got bored and put together a hydro single plant bucket with a pretty wide mouth, which im planning on putting one plant into. currently I have 4 hempy buckets setup with 3 seeds per setup all have taproots obviously. just waiting, and im looking for some tips and helpers. soon ill start a grow journal on these babies.

The dwc system is the cheapest way to go, obviously. But he already has the AG, wbhich means he has a nice bucket with holes and an integrated pump, plus the hood is decent. AGs are cheap if you get em used. I got my second one for 35 bucks, pretty cheap for a hood with ligbhts and a nice bucket wih holes.

Ive had a lot of people tell me i wont be able to grow well in the Aerogarden 7 but i want a better opinion. can anyone give me some insight? :leaf:
Arofanidis: I grew with mine for about five years and contrary to what some folks, who want to piss on your parade say, there are a lot of good features in the Aerogarden. It's a great place to start and learn a little about hydroponics. Here's some advice: 1. Use good water. 2. Don't try to grow more than two plants or you're asking got trouble with over crowding. 3. Wrap your pump in a woman's short nylon sock like they wear with flat shoes and that should keep the roots out. It'll do a better job than the little sponge filter, but you still need the sponge filter. I've got the old, "seven holes Classic models," but I upgraded them to the hood with three lamps and the taller, 24" light/arm stand. That 'll give you more growing flexibility. 5. Take out the plastic struts in the reservoir and it'll be easier to disassemble and clean. Cleanliness is Godliness. The plastic struts are for keeping its shape during the manufacturing process and shipping. 6. Grow short varieties. 7. Check your pH daily. 8. Use good nutes, not the crap that comes with the unit, and change your nutes and give the reservoir a good scrubbing every week. 9. Read everything that comes with the unit and review everything they have on line at Aerogarden. If you do that you should enjoy your unit. Good luck and welcome to the fraternity. HSA

Don't listen to people. You already have it, so go ahead and work with it. Anything can work if you do your research and monitor thing right. I have the Aerogarden 6 Elite(the one with no pump but a bubble stone instead). It all depends on what you are looking to do with it. If you just want to keep it simple and grow a couple plants for personal use, it's great. It self contained and easy to maintain. Res changes are easy. It's best to use a strain that remains around three feet in height. Remember to take it easy on the ratio of nutes because the res is fairly small but not that bad. It's big enough to handle the roots of two plants fine. Here is my very first grow of any kind, this is 9 week from seedling sprout and 4 weeks into flower. I used Dyna Gro Grow/Liquid Karma/Cal Mag Plus for veg, then Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Bloom/Cal Mag Plus/Liquid Karma for flower. I used RO water for the majority of the grow. It has (3)26w, (1)23w, (1)55w, and the two stock 6500k 27w Aerogarden lights during flower. There were two other plants but they were dirty boys. DSC01632.jpg
