Got question on dominate gene - which is more likely to be more evident

I think I might have this some what correct - that if you have a single mother plant and spray her clones with Colloidal Silver to dust the mother with pollen - grow the seeds and the traits should be mostly or a lot like the mother's genes.
But what if you dust her with a different strain and grow the outcome seeds.....which parent traits / genes be more dominate in this new plant - Is it more likely to take more from the pollen/male side or the female?
I understand it's not that simple and a hell of a lot more complex, but which do you think that most of the time would the majority be from.....? thanks folks :leaf:

From my under standing the dominant genes should come from the f1 ..s1 is not true breeding ..selfed..no male used for the pollen..f1 will be a lot more stable there for holding more dominant genes..i could be wrong tho..just my thought.

F1 is first generation.f2 second generation and so on..the higher the more stable it will be..that when male is used ..no male..is s1 ..first generation selfed.meaning breeding her own pollen back to herself without a male..producing female seeds..im sure 1r 2 breeders will pop in and explain it better..happy growing

the s1 seeds (selfed clone) will be very similar to the mother if homozygous for the presented phenotype (plant in question) if its not true breeding or heterozygous then itll be a pretty variable lot of seeds.
now if you pollinate a plant with fem pollen from another strain youll have f1 seeds of a cross between strainX and strainY will the cross be stable? i dont know but it doeant matter which plant the pollen comes from genes will recombine the same way regaress of which parent it comes from because its random.

P1=parents
f1=first filial generation (first gen of cross)
f2= seed from brother and sister bred to eachother from the f1
so on and so forth

Thank you bf80255, But I am not real understanding when you say " it doesn't matter which plant the pollen comes from genes will recombine the same way regardless of which parent it comes from because its random " When you say (recombine) does that mean the seeds will be a lot like the female regardless of where the pollen comes from?
Thanks to both of you.......... What I am trying to make my mind up on is which of the two strains (Pineapple Chunk or THC Bomb) would be a wiser choose to make into a male to pollinate the other. I like both very much and thought that maybe if I crossed the two, I might get something very interesting. But what I think your saying is that which ever I choose to be the female, she will be the same with very little noticeable traits from the male.......?.......right ? Sorry , thanks again :peace:

I think its a breeder you need to talk too..complex stuff ..and difficult to explain on less you really know..

i am a breeder. (amateur :D) but i have a decent working knowlege of genetics.
okay when you cross a strain (feminized or not) it doesnt matter which parent is the mother and which is the pollen donor because when the pollen hits the pistil half of one parents dna and half the others come together and begin to form the new seed, so what i mean to say is pollinating has nothing to do with which parent will be more dominant in the cross the only way to tell is to make the cross and do a progeny test to see if your bomb or the chunk is the one that dominates crossesits all in the genome of the individual plant in question. hope this answered some question if nit feel free to call me out and bash me lol

itll be an f1 cross and should carry some vigor and relative uniformity if you started with well bred and stable strains if those are not stable expect some variation and make sure to save clones before you flower in case you find "the one"

I have been reading up on this subject but could not grasp till you simplified it, or just the way you explained it. Now I have a better understanding when I read on in material. Thank you very much for not giving up on me (lol)
P.S. - The more I read up on the Cannabis plant, I find it more interesting each time. It's real an amazing plant. :weed:
