Grape Ape smoke report (" Grand daddy Grape Ape ", " Grape ape aka GDP ")

Apothecary Grape Ape is a Afghan x Skunk. it has many names, and is kinda cloudy gene wise because of that. it was listed at the cannabis cup by Apothecary as "Grand Daddy Grape Ape". if you goto the apothecary website its "grape ape" and then it says "aka GDP" which GDP would of course mean grand daddy purple. so take your pick on what u want to call it.

This is a unique Grape Ape smoke report.

The Buds are from an Indica heavy, very long arm branched phenotype, that had very short bladed indica looking leaves that stay close to the stem. it had very good spacing that led to huge tops and many tops from topping just once w/ proper prunning. very easy to grow strain

The seeds came from a dispensary in Saginaw, MI. The buds had a few seeds in just one or two little buds. I planted two of them knowing they could be anything, even hermies, and they turned out to be BOTH female.
One was much more sativa looking during veg than the other. the indica one stinks SUPER strong in veg, just like skunk. the sativa one stinks too but not as strong. sativa one will be reported on soon in a couple weeks. the indica phenotype flowered much faster and was a bit different. i need to get some pics for u guys tho, im convinced its the real thing. the sativa one is beautiful now, the indica one was a much heavier yielding plant and shorter.
THIS REPORT IS FOR THE INDICA PHENOTYPE. 7 WEEKS FLOWER (49 days)

The High is amazing, it has that "old school" high and taste along with a new-age after taste IMO. Its very obvious that it has a skunk background in the buzz, its a total cerebral high thats backed up with a nice relaxing body buzz. the taste is complex and took me a minute to get. at first, it tastes a bit like sour grapes would, but, the exhale tastes very fruity and sour. i say its a bit like a combination of a sour, rubbery, chemy Sage n Sour and a sweet, fruity, Blueberry. I didnt expect it to have such an aromatic flavor, its very pungent. everyone loves it honestly. the smell isnt out of this world tho. it was stronger back when it was a young plant for some reason, strange but useful for me.

this is a great easy to grow strain. this phenotype had very little purple on it, the sativa one has beautiful purple hues all over.

you cant get much better for an ALL AROUND STRAIN. its got a 10/10 buzz and awesome flavor. plus its a good yielder and hard to kill. 7 week flower to top it all off! very commercial strain here, with a top notch final product unlike most commercial strains.

i have one id give to ya if we could do that kinda stuff on here, lol. i actually kept a clone of the indica pheno and two of the sativa.

glad i did they are great, both phenotypes. i was suprized to see how much my sativa one looks like the pic in my high times for the grape ape entry pic for the cannabis cup. they showed a pic of the plant and it had the same characteristics like very close to the main stem side buds. and super super dark green foilage where it isnt a bright to dark purple color that makes everyone smile!

i have some of the purple sativa pheno bud here. heres a pic. these are just some bottom buds i had left over. the only green u see on them is the untrimmed sugar leaves. all of the calyxes are purple.

i just recently got my digi cam so i couldnt take good pics before.
i have two clones still of this pheno. it was popular so a lot of my friends wanted the clone, so its easy to get back when i need it.

i ended up getting about 20+ seeds out of the green pheno. its blackberry x grape ape. im testing a couple of them now, they just started flower.

heres a couple pics of the clones to show you how sativa lookin the purple pheno is.

the blackberry x grape ape have been alot more indica looking in veg. i cloned one of them because it has a very strong fruity smell, with a hint of sour-skunky ness. and it grew better. heres a couple pics from a few days ago.

im almost convinced that real GDP is alot different than this grape ape i have.

I dont understand why apothecary put the gdp on it, or the grand daddy grape ape. my only geuss is maybe gdp is the indica used in breeding? maybe?

Old thread, but I have some Gods Gift going which is GDPxOG Kush. Got some cuts from my buddies CG. Its one of my all time favorites. Never met the guy but he grows great meds. Now if I can only get a hold of one of his Snowdawg cuts! Now that's a smoke that'll mess up your day!

How did your BlackBerryxGrape Ape turn out? Sounds delicious already.

i grew conoisuers gdp fem's raiderman.. was super blown away by this strain.. hits you right in the face, and the stone lasts for hours and hours and hours.. easily, the longest lasting stone i've smoked yet..
amazing flavor and smell as well.. i didn't get any purple, but it was a summer grow and had some high(er) temps..

ive heard mixed reviews on conoiseurs strains never could come to decision but the grower has the power to grow it out rite and I know yure marxman among growers,thx for that.

i've pretty much only heard good stuffs about conny raider.. i know there's someone on here that has grown a large chunk of conny's gear and had pretty good things to say about them all..
i'm sure all of them can't be winners, but what breeders gear is tbh?? i grew that gdp's from them and was more than impressed, so yeah, lol..

I grew out kens gdp and had a bad germ rate both times,it was kens rep here awhile back handful were talkin crap including the rep.bcseedking jus released fems gdp and growin 4 they give me to try out a month before they dropped.will take a look at thiers also.

the "black ape" is still floating around. lol. i gave a few clones out of the one i had chose to keep. its very very stinky for some reason. it has fairly large gaps between the nodes just like the grape ape pheno i have. Its funny that happened tho, the grape ape momma plant that these black ape seeds came out of was a shorter more indica looking pheno with much tighter internodes. It was all green, unlike the other pheno of grape ape that i kept, which is much more sativa like in growth and has those huge internode gaps that the black ape inherited. The more sativa grape ape is the purple one.

so maybe the black ape pheno that is being grown/tested out now has leaned more towards the purple grape ape pheno's side of the genes? idk.

the blackberry thats in it had very tight internodes and just a dash of purple. it was a fairly even 50/50 sativa/indica pheno.

so im pretty sure the pheno of black ape my friends are trying out is grape ape heavy, and the purple pheno side of the grape ape seems to be showing thru in the structure of this black ape pheno.
some of the black apes are even outside in the michigan sun. we'll see if they turn purple at all... my buddy says u can smell the black ape over any of the other plants hes growing, which doesnt suprise me. like i said before, this phenotype stinks heavily.

i missed out on trying a small batch of indoor buds of this pheno too. it wasnt the best example or test anyways tho, so im still waiting to see how it turns out indoor.
