Great Lamp for CFL lighting. (30 bucks)

Yeah I was browsing around the net for random shit. I came across this lamp which has 4 tubes with light fixtures on the end. It even comes with a short floor lamp (for vegging xD) with 3 fixtures. And it has a cheap price of 30 bucks, I figured this is a nice find?

that is friggin nifty my friend.. think about it like this, let say you have a rack in the middle of the wall (which i currently have may i add)... You could be growing the mother plant up top and the clones onthe bottom..

hmmmm.. may have to take a trip to wally world soon..

Yeah it is actually pretty useful. I'm gonna pick up one of the floor lamps if they sell them separately because those are nice, stealthy, and can cover all sides of the plant. :]

Here is another thing I found it looks pretty damn amazing cause it supports CFLs (up to 42 watts, which are ideal wattage for normal CFL grows)

It is much cheaper / effective to simply buy a socket for $3 and either affix it to a platform or hang it by the cord.

This way you don't have to deal with :
a) the limited range of the fixture
b) the limited number of sockets (if you wire it yourself, you can add more any time you like and as many as you like within the power limit of the circuit
c) the poor reflection of the fixture hood
d) the grow space it takes

you can put the $30 into a nice digi timer or a couple more 42W CFLs ... just my experience.

Damn - But any way to get those things at any place doesn't destroy the small business' in America and make the 6 Walton kids richer than god, the devil and me combined?

Oh and you don't want that timer thingy either.

1. it doesn't list how you program it, meaning it probably doesn't even have timed events, unless there is a digital readout on the remote, which for $33 I highly doubt.
2. 42W is for ONE BULB. for any decent CFL grow, you are probably going to have at minimum 126, probably closer to 250W in power. You can get a $5 timer at Fry's that will time that many watts with hour accuracy. If you want one with minute precision and a digital readout or a heavy duty (higher power rating) appliance timer, you're going to have to drop $25 (which you should do at the local hydro shop to give back the love).

i have the small one, and it takes these tiny ass expensive cfls, christmas light socket size.
not worth getting
