Green Light

ok, Ive seen these in some grow videos where they would walk through with only a green light during dark period, what I would like to know really is if it is just a regular green party light or if it is some special type of light, anybody know of this??? Also, I know of some gardeners that only water their outdoor flowers and such at night, would this be okay for marijuana? or is there a specific reason not to do so?? Thanks to all in advance!!!

yeah what is that logic?? i a confused, cover up all litle lights like clocks and power strip leds and shit but a green light is cool in dark periiod??

if it looks like the Paris Hilton video, then that's not a green light. That's just an IR camera. The people could be in a completely dark room and they'll look like that unless they walk around with the video camera stuck up to their face.

Also, watering at night might be needed for the guerilla grow, but wet dark areas can lead to fungus problems.

and wouldnt that slow root growth since there is no energy exchange at night plantsjust transfer carbohydrates and energy into root production, since there is no light/photosynthesis/energy exchange (my version of a flow chart i AM lazy) during dark cycles.

Im not trying to use it all the time, its just hard to not go and look at them ya know? (im sure you do) If they were using one in the video, Im sure its okay but Im just wondering if it is some specific "greenhouse green ligh" or just a party light like the blue ones and red ones

It doesnt seem to me that some limited light during the 'night time' period of a plants daily cycle would be detrimental; after all, in their natural environment (under the clear night sky!) they would recieve light from the moon and stars, right? Is their any empirical evidence of detriment if there is some light bleed from another grow area or from the relitavely dim glow a power-strip?

well for a plant that hasnt kjnown much cycle on off it seemed important to make sure they switch completely over to the flowering state seemd necasary to control environmental aspects of the workshop area.

sanisfan says you can use a blacklight for the purposes you're talking about. that green light is probably confusing the plants even if the dude did it in the video.

some are sayin yes and some are sayin no so I will do the smatest thing I can think of............... stay out and dont disturb

light from the green spectrum is ok for the plant as this can not be absorbed by the plant, growers use these bulbs just incase they need to get in the grow room in the dark, not saying it should be left on all the time but if you needed to go in there for any reason during dark period green light is the way to go.

exactly what Im was about to type next. everyone this guy hit it on the head! But like I said green light is ok, but why even fucks with it?

Yes, green lamps will work fine to light your way during the dark cycle. BUT... it must be a bulb with green glass, not some green film over it. And you can check it by looking at the leaves of your plant, they will appear to be black in color if you're using the correct green bulb with no other light.

And don't fall for that "Moonlight is OK" logic. When growing indoors, the dark cycle must be uninterrupted darkness each night.

I personally use a low flame lighter when i go in the grow room and have my back to the plants so the light isnt directly facing them.

I dont think the green light would be bad, But I would use red for the simple fact that the red lights are used while developing pictures, and it doesnt disturb picture development. just dont go overbord with it, maybe one ore two depending on the size of grow room.

I may be wrong, but you would not want to confuse a light which is green with a light which produces light in the green spectrum.
