Awesome, I was looking about some on ebay but they are about $70+ and didn't feel like spending that much extra money after buying my nice light and all. I will check it out. Thanks. More pics coming soon.

May I ask:
What the difference between regular seeds and greenhouse seeds?
The difference bewteen greenhouse seeds and other companies such as nirvana or whoever is that greenhouse have some guys that make their strains who are supposedly the best in the business for inventing strains. Greenhouse seeds actually created the strain white widow, it was their invention so anyone else that uses the name just isn't providing the same thing.

Someone like nirvana or whoever will copy this strain by selling namesakes at a substantially lower price. The reason for this is that they don't have the same controls or breeding environment as greenhouse where they constantly strive for protection and know a whole shit load about plants.

It all depends on what you want reallly as many seeds as you can get for 20 bucks or getting the quality

Day 5

I got my light today. I am excited about it, but also afraid of heat. When I turned it on, it would get close to 89 degrees with the door open and having the thermometer about 12 inches away. Maybe I will try one of the homemade c02 bottles. Currently I do not have any ventilation, and the hps is 51 inches tall. My three gallon pots are roughly 10 inches and my plants are going to have to be around 24 inches away from that hot light.

so 51 - 10 - 24 = too fing short...

I am only growing four plants and I wanted them to nice and big for a decent yield. There is one solution I have thought of so far is when the plants get big enough, I can hang the light from my ceiling. This would give me an extra 32 inches. I would be able to grow them a lot easier then. On the greenhouse website they flower the White Widow at about 17 inches and they harvest at 24 inches. However, they say their pot is like 80 some liters? That's huge... And it's probably about three feet wide, which also wouldn't work for my closet grow.

If anyone that has grown greenhouse white widow before, it would be great to get some insight.

Day 5

On a better note, my plants seem to be doing really well. Since I moved them from the CFL tube to my closet they started to really grow again today.

I think in about a week I'll start hitting them with the hps hortilux.

Should I try to get that seed shell off the plant in the second picture? I know the 3rd one isn't ready to come off yet.. And there is one shorty in the background of the 3rd picture. I'm pulling for her though.

Thanks everyone.

How early do you guys hit your plants with your hps/mh lights? I want to put my hps hortilux on asap because it has way more lumens (four plants currently on 5 cfl's) and to see what kind of heat problems I will have to deal with.

Here are what my plants look like.

Thanks NGT, can anyone help me out with the question of when to hit these plants with my hps hortilux?

Also my humidity keeps going down. It's about 38% right now, even though a added some cups of water in there to help. I think I may be getting an air conditioner/humidifier which will solve a lot of the problems I have.

Day 6

I took NTG's advice and took it off. I did it with tweezers so I think she will be fine. I took the first picture right after I did it. :hump:

My tallest plant's stem is a little over 2 inches and seems to be pretty weak. I have been hitting it softly with a fan all night, so maybe the stem cells are going to get stronger since I turned it off? Not really sure on that.

And, is it normal to have the stems about that long at this stage or are they stretching a little?

If anyone would comment on either of those topics, I would really appreciate it. I also still want to know what you guys think about when to switch from my shitty cfl's to my hps hortilux.

Since it's my first grow maybe I am being a little anxious, but I want to have a good grow to :joint: Thanks guys.

Yeah you can give it more light now, if you want to. for younglings like that i'd keep a 400 watt about 2.5 foot away

Thanks ngt. I put the 430 watt hps about 32 inches away. Surprisingly, the door open it was about 78 degrees and when I closed it for about 15 minutes it only got up to 83. That partially due to it being a lot colder today, and my windows are open in my room with my fan on. But, I feel a lot better about heat now.

They were going 24/7 with the cfl's. Now I am going to start 18/6 to save a little electricity. I'll post some more pics if anything changes.

Day 10

My girls are growing very well! Within the next week I will probably have to transplant them to one gallon pots. One of the mornings I had my closet door shut for a few hours and when I opened it, it was 93 degrees :?

So... some of them got a little wilted, which you can see in the pictures. I am hoping that this won't affect their grow.

I have been trying to ph my soil even though I have not added any nutes yet. And when I try, it barely moves off 8. Please let me know if I am screwing something up or need to get a new meter? I bought it for about $8. Not to excited to pay out the ass for a good one right now...

Comments are appreciated.

Ok, I need some help here guys. I transplanted my first plant into a five gallon pot. When I did it I followed a guide, but my fing soil didn't all come out of the cup. It was just some soil from around the roots. I don't think any of the roots tore out, but I'm afraid it has a lot of shock

Is this really bad for the plant? Can someone please give me a better way of transplanting these out of the cups?

Could the reason have been that the roots didn't hit the clear bottom of the cup yet? I didn't make my wholes big enough in the bottom to see if roots are coming out, so I have to kind of guess when to. At any rate, I am not transplanting the other plants for at least another 5-7 days.

Someone please confirm if it was because the roots hadn't developed in the last part of the cup. Also, the reason why the leaves are curled was in my last post and has nothing to do with the transplant. The leaves have been coming back very nicely though

Help a newbie out..

the soil came apart because the roots didn't get to the bottom yet, there wasn't anything holding it together. What I've done before was moisten the soil a little, not soggy and pretty much cut the cup away from it. The leaves on my WW first starting were screwed up but they came back nicely. Also got some updated pics on my WW and other plants too in my journal.

Liking it so far man, although i think you will probably need to start thinking about ventilation pretty soon, if you are getting those kinds of temperatures. Good Luck!

Day 17

Alright, I am finally updating. The plants are doing great. I am about to transplant my biggest one into a five gallon container. The first one started to grow after two days of the transplant which was amazing considering the amount of shock it had..

Strider - Thanks for the info. I am being more patient to transplant the others.
Slam - Yeah, I got my temps down to currently at 76 degrees with the light on so I thank the climate change and keep my windows open. Not sure what I am going to do for my summer grows...

One of my plants looks like it may have some sort of deficiency with the new part of the stem turning purple. I know its normal for young plants, but the lower part of the stem is green and the new part is partly purple. If anyone wants to let me know, that would be great.

I will be starting nutes sometime at the end of the week. Happy growing.

Day 29

I think my plants have a few problems and if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. I figured out my medium/water was a little on the alkaline side so I have been phing it down to around 6.0 I also did my first nutes about a week ago, and the plants started turning a little yellow, especially the two bottom single leaves. These aren't supposed to die like the two fake leaves are they? As you can see there is a little on some of the upper leaf sets as well. I did these both at the same time so it's hard for me to tell if its a nute burn or ph fluctuation.

Also today the tips of my leaves started turning down on my taller plants. It may be heat stress so I moved my light from 17 inches to 21. When my hand was above the plant it didn't really feel that hot though, so if the tips turning down are likely from something else please let me know..

My plants started out so great and then when I started messing with nutes and ph I fed them up.. At least they aren't dieing but I think growth may have slowed a little. By the way the two plants on the left are droopy because I just transplanted them today.

2nd Week Flower

My plants have grown a little since I last posted....ok a lot. They are in their second week of flower. All female, can you believe it? I can, they were fem. seeds... Anyways, had a ppm problem, I think my plants had nute lockout from too high of a ph, or that's what it seemed. The runoff for each plant was out of range :o:shock: This means they each had a ppm in excess of 1999. This makes me laugh a little.

Anyways, I did a flush and now they look really good, honestly they never looked to bad even with that high ppm. I am surprised. My two tallest plants were topped around 21". My other two I didn't top, I want to see which yields more and I am looking forward to two huge top colas.

The plants are now around 33" as of yesterday. I thought they would grow taller even faster than that, but I am sure they will keep growing. Most people say WW grows fast in flower for at least 3-4 weeks.

I also bought a cabinet with locks for my aero cloner I built thanks to RIU DIY threads. I took 15 clones just a few days ago. Hopefully they will be fine rooting and everything. They will be getting 24 hours of light until flower time. I also have some top selves for possibly a mother at some point. The towels are used to keep it light tight, and amazingly they work great. I will probably have to come up with something more permanent though. :joint:

The last pic is from my floor looking up, thought it was a cool pic. :blsmoke:
