I just want to say thank you to Greenthumbs for putting info out about this tech! I tried out a very simple design with just rocks and vermiculite to make up the reservoir and lightly amended soil, and I couldn't be happier with the results!

Highly recommend anyone reading through this thread to try this tech. At this point this is the happiest and healthiest plant I've grown since I started growing, and like I said, I went pretty light on the soil too. I'll be switching over to the SIPs as much as possible going forward. Much love to the folks in this thread for spreading this very useful info!

Took clones from my bigger sips and eventually transplanted into small 5 gal sips. They are happy as pigs in shit. Sucks to have to water them everyday though... Can't wait to get a +20gal sips going!

The grow stores all push toxic chemicals, so they're gonna be way way behind when it comes to probiotics and beyond organics. Try even a low-tech SIP like I did and you'll be laughing at him for what he's missing out on.

If it didn't work, then all the new guys here that try it wouldn't keep running it, I've yet to see a single person try this, and not completely fall in love with it, much less even have anything negative to say about it. Sure some cross as small problem here and there, but all easy fixes, and end up with amazing results! Find out for yourself, then go back and shit on that guy that was laughing at you lol

Hey now!
I have a 3x3 tent with a 315 lec. Want to be able to run two different strains using this method. Was thinking 2 15 gal sips. Thoughts? Also, how much em-1 and grokashi would I need for one grow? I would like to expand the em-1 using the method described. Any and all help or thoughts is appreciated.

Either one will be fine. 2 plants or 4. Doesnt matter. 315w will grow X grams/watt whether 15 gals of soil or 30 gals. As long as u don’t use a small 5 gal bucket only, sounds like u can go either route. U can plant 2 seeds per sip or two sips with one seed each.

If I was in your place I would run one seed each in two ~15gal sips. Less work and less risk. Your yield will be the same wither way.

This was a good read (not that I read every post) It gives me hope in what I'm trying.
Your sip totes are similar to a hempy bucket (passive hydro). And I'm trying a true organic bucket which all purist hempyist say will not work, so I had to try. My set up is much simpler but I like the list of products you've shown and I may use some if this trial runs turns out okay. Thanks for sharing

Also I drilled a bunch of holes in the black pipe this way the air would spread a bit more evenly rather than just out the left and right side of the hose.

Didn't see this post, like the fill and air pipe, but vermiculite holds water and is not a good rez material, just go with straight perlite, the vermiculte will hinder wicking of the whole rez where perlite will let allow better transfer to the soil above.

I have earth boxes and plan to try these. I think I’ve got a grasp of this but the one part I’m not getting is the harvest. Once the plant is cut down then what??? Toss the medium?? Does one add back leaf and stems like no till?? Do we just plant another plant?? This part has me confused.

IMO recycle the used medium and Start each new grow in newly cooked medium. Add in the stalks and root balls but cook them down. Others may have a a better Suggestion/opinion. Soil tests are a plus.

So far I have to disagree with you about the vermiculite.
