Grew all by itself :)

So apparently my sister's BF who grows Hyroponically for a hobby and his own use, threw some seeds of his in his garden outside, its a section of fertalized dirt with pearlite covered by something that protects from the sun or something but they still get light. Anyway he had a bunch of seeds and thew them in there just for the hell of it. And well Southern California's rainy season came and it rained for about 3 days straight. Any a plant grew.

Crazy eh? But I guess its not that crazy because from what I heard they call it a WEED because it's exactly that, a weed. Any idiot can grow a weed. And this one just grew by itself, kinda cool huh? Inspired my friend and I to start growing with all the seeds we've saved, and we're having a blast. Every day I have a better reason to wake up, to go and see how much our plants grew.

I posted in the Newbie section yesterday asking for opinions on the plants, and well we re planted them in a different pot and here is what the set up looks like now

So the lights are temporary for just the beginning stages, but we are looking into buying these for the rest of the growth :

Anyone think that will definetly not work? Keep in mind we're only growing two plants..

An enclosed space would be good for better light reflectiveness. That's a fine light too.

Hehehe, I had a few plants grow in natural pine needle mulch out behind my dads shed. I had no idea they were there. I walked back and saw two tall budding plants up against the neighbors fence. I was stoked. For years after I moved out, my dad would call and tell me he found more growing on their own.

The best was a plant that grew on top of a 4x8 foot fiber glass sheet. The mulch on top of it was only about an inch thick, but there was enough food there and the plant really liked it. The root system had spread out over the entire surface of the sheet...it was really cool!

Anyway, enjoy the plant. Remember, this is a weed that grows wild.

As for the light, I have the same one and it works fine. I have an air cooled hood on the way for better heat control. I am still tuning my system before I seriously start anything. This light does generate some heat, so for small enclosed areas, you will want to design some ventilation.
