Grey slime in res

Afternoon, so abit of history for this first.. I had deficiency issues raising ec falling PH, turns out I had been using grow nuts in flower by accident. This has been fixed and now I have falling ec rising pH (pH rising from 5.5 - 7.5, EC falls by around. 2 a night)

I am adjusting ec to find the sweet spot for them, they are feeding and the res levels dropping.

I have been using a new pH down I had to buy online, could this be causing the reaction? It is taking alot of ml to drop the pH.

I will do a res change tomorrow and have a vitalink pH down onn the way. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

The slight brown in the there is from the clay pebbles, I forgot to wash them

A few things.

If you've been using the wrong feed, or had pH problems, or ppm problems, or anything.. you need to FLUSH. It is absolutely no good just changing the res without a flush, because all the compounds locked in the roots will just stay there. Give them a 24hr flush of pH adjusted water and keep an eye on the pH and adjust it regularly. Swings at this point is good. It means your plants are leeching the builtup salts back into the water.

Second, you have two options with hydro. Sterile or beneficial. Either is good, both have pro's cons, but you absolutely must do one or the other.

h202 or silver bullet is the standard for sterile. Other people will talk about chlorine but i confess i know nothing about that. hygrozyme if you want to use bennies.

The picture of the inside of your brain bucket there shows salts crusted all over the fittings. That's not a good sign. You can imagine your plants roots on the inside look exactly the same.. As for the brown sludge thats a mixture of dead roots and bacteria... but not the good type!

clean clean flush flush clean clean, then start using hygrozyme or peroxide. Good luck!
