a friend of mine does that but he has good reason too..

He gets dirt weed that comes in brick form.. so breaking it up after removing the seeds leaves him with still brick weed. He makes basically marijuana flower from it and smokes that in his pipe.

Myself I wait, and don't grind it... I use a chopper to make it small enough it burns evenly in my bowl for my bong.

I have done both, and if done right breaking it all up at once has serious advantages...

If your a medical user, it means your medicine is available almost instantly...
If you roll a lot of joints or blunts as I do, it makes the process of blunt rolling much quicker.
If you preserve it in glass it looses no moisture, esp if you add a piece of coco shell or lettuce, any thing with moisture but i prefer those two.
Also as far as loosing trics, i consider that an advantage as they all fall through my keif screen, i find when i grind it all at once, i collect much more keif which i can then have for all the bowls i smoke...

I have never experienced any negatives to grinding up all my bud at once... I understand the downside about missing out on the processes, and certainly when i have buddah bud it never gets ground all at once, but when its the same weed you've been smoking daily for over a year... i dont need to stare at it before i smoke it.

Either way it smokes... And for those who describe it as dust... your doing something wrong- add a piece of fruit or something to keep moisture, put it in glass- even better than tuperware...

I use a vaporizer almost exclusively. I usually grab about 3 grams of buds out of the glass jar to grind up. When vaporizing, grinding it up creates more surface area to be heated. I then take the ground up bud and put it in a small airtight jar to be used as needed.
