I definitely agree about the kief aspect of grinders, and I haven't had an actual piece other then a vape in awhile, so I forgot about that advantage of ground up bud for burning is so much nicer, for a vape I believe you really have to rip it up and throw it in, but I think you guys who worry about too much contact with your bud are a little over paranoid about, no offense or anything everyman to his own, but although yeah some trichomes are inevitably going to stick on my fingers i think its a rather small amount I just lightly tear it up on a flat surface, then take my hot box whip and just suck it all up so I get the majority of small pieces and hairs that fall away. I'm still really undecided on which on I prefer still, because although I do smoke quite a bit of weed I don't smoke nearly enough to have nice amounts of kief on that regular of basis, so I figure well by not grinding it then the majority of those trichomes stay on the bud and I get higher (this is purely my own ideology I don't want a rant about how I'm actually wasting alot or something along those lines)

except the fine lines arent so fine.
theres something spirtual about breaking up by hand ya know. it takes longer and your putting more into it and it kinda builds it up.
grinding is better for large quanities or breaking up shitty brick bud. its pretty fast.
but hands down when im rolling a j or an l i always break that shit up by hand cuz i lvoe that dankity dank smell on my fingers and they're so sticky.

Yeah for sure, that spirituality though is my favorite thing, idk I just feel so almost united with like the entire weed world throughout history, when I'm starring over a nice bud carefully breaking it up piece by beautiful piece

Proud owner of a Large 4piece Space Case, and a medium 2piece space case. Both with the "titanium" finish (anodized aerograde aluminum!)
Been grinding every day for like 8 months with this thing and you CANT slow it down.
I love feeding it though, it straight up ANNIHILATES and eighth. I think it could easily fit 5g in the chaimber.
Not to mention that it collects keif like CRAZY.
But yeah this thing is like an inch and a half larger in diameter than the medium
, its like 3 times bigger. Glad I got the large!

i just cant bring myself to totally break up weed with my hands...i have to break it up to an extent to get the pieces into the grinder, but i dont want to handle the buds too much because you definitely lose some crystals that way. anything thats going to sacrifice my crystals (even if it is more intimate to crush with my hands) is not the route i want to take. i dont really care about bonding with my buds by breaking them up by hand. i want as much of that THC going in my body as possible. not onto my hands, and my table, and falling onto my clothes, etc. hehe
besides...i have tons of intimate bonding with buds when i grow them!

I totally understand where your coming from, I guess I just feel like with my grinder, I have a sharp stone and I really do love the thing, but by grinding it I still obviously remove some crystals and yeah the majority go into the kief collector there are still a shit ton left on the teeth and in the like sockets that I still lose a lot, and again yeah I can get those too, but sometimes its a huge pain in the ass to clean a grinder all the way through, although it is quite rewarding I just like to break the bud up too cause it touches my fingers the table the bowl, compared to my fingers the grinder the bowl, but I'm obviously not saying anyone is wrong or anything it's just my two cents

i dont know about all the spirituality gotten by breaking up buds... breaking up bud is something i HAVE to do to smoke a joint. therefor i use a grinder. i've never felt "in tune" with buds by putting my fingers on it lol.

I second that, why take 10 times as long ripping bud apart with your hands when you can throw it in a coffee grinder and zing zing its done. Its also busted up evenly so joints and bowls somke way better then ripped up with your hands. I don't really need to get intimate with a herb I'm about to burn, its all about the best and the easiest way for me.

I get what you guys are saying its bud, let's get high, as quickly and efficiently as possible, but when I want to enjoy the whole experience when I'm by myself breaking up by hand is the only way to go in my opinion. But maybe I'll follow some others and start doing a mix of the two

I used to do the grinder thing, but prefer handbreaking my stuff these days. I just went through weed too fast with the grinders.
I guess what makes weed diffirent from say beer is that you can just open another one regardless how messed up you get.
With weed you first need to work a little, and once you had enough, rolling another is just too much effort... sadly I never seem to reach that point, my wallet is my limit these days.
