Ground vs Pot

Guerilla Growers: Should i grow in pots or in the ground? Is it worth the effort to dig out the soil? Or can i just plant in a large pot?

My thoughts are that a large(5 gallon or greater) pot would be much easier than digging a large hole. What should i do?

it all depends on what kind of soil you have...if you have a good rich loam then you'd definitely want them in the ground, however if you do use pots depending on what strain and when you plant them i'd say you'd want a minimum of 10gal but if you start mid april or early may then i'd say go up to a 15gal

I'm debating this too, from what I read this is what I've figured out:

- Using pots could be a good way to control plant size if you don't want a monster.
- Potted plants probably stand out a little in areas you'd want to grow.
- You need to water far more often with pots.

If one doesn't want to dig holes, Burlap bags work great. they act like a wick system soaking up the morning dew.
Buckets/pots need watering every day or two.

This summer I'm using five gallon buckets from home depot, drilling several medium-sized holes in the bottom and using 50/50 coco coir and perlite. My plan is to dig holes for each of them and bury almost to the rim so they are much less noticeable but in perfect soil, ph, etc. after time the roots will extend through the holes in bottom too. I'm fortunate however and will be able to water every 2-3 days no prob and so am gonna use a little organic nutes too.

theres grow bags you can grow in also

if you grow in pots ur gonna wanna bury them especialy if u got lots of plants the pots can be seen from the air

actually I think digging a hole is a waste of time.. just loosin up the dirt 7 or 8 inches below with alittle garden tool and let the roots worry about getting farther, after all your limited to a pot, but you have unlimited space in the ground.. taking that extra few minutes to do so will pay off at the end.. but its up to you. just giving my few cents

you really have no idea what you are talking about do you?
planting in the ground makes for bigger plants usually as long as conditions are met. but you should always dig up the soil to aerate it and to help with watering and root growth speed. its a proven fact time and time again, they JUST do better that way.

pots work well but make your plant easy pickings. For EVERYONE not just you in flowering. and all the dumb asses these days will smoke the damn leaves off ur plant before it flowers. lol

what ko is saying is a 7 or 8 inch hole is a great place to plant a dead hamster but to grow worth while pot it needs more root space. about 1 meter across and knee deep is good for starters

if you grow in the ground the plants could grow slower, due to the consistency of the soil. Plants grow ALOT faster in extremely light soil, and soil from outside is generally really hard. I recomend if you do put them in the ground, is to use compost (you can search craigslist and get it for free) and dig a hole of it. Or mix it with your outdoor dirt

That's why I use contractor bags. It creates a pot in the ground. Roots don't like heat and the pots will raise your soil temp in the summer if they are above ground. there are techniques for insolating you pots too if the ground is too hard -- but I won't go into that here. The hole keeps things cool, and the bags promote forcing as well as keep your environment clean and cool. Surrounding soil is not a great idea to use. For optimum performance, use mix and feed your plants from a clean slate.

i jus dug big whole wide as fuck and jus filled it in with huge bags of soil so no buckets or nuthin.

Dig i big fucking hole and fill it with the soil you'd use for an indoor grow. You will be amazed.

THAT is exactlly what im talking about and its quoted from you yourself.
maybe you shouldent give advice under the influence of marijuana until your system builds up enough tolerance to handle thought patterns correctly?
the roots should not be left to just go their own.... They WILL do poorly then.

and brown dirt warrior is right i believe. soil bags are an excellent choice for any outdoor grow. and they cost like $2 for 10 bags........

soil bags are a good idea...
i used five gallon buckets for my outdoor grow last year. They dry out much faster, are way more noticable (even painted). Alot of people say they dig holes and put the buckets in the holes to make them less noticeable but where i live 3 feet down and it's clay.. The water just lingers in the hole and soaks into your bucket. I put out like a dozen five gallon buckets in the spring last year dug holes all around and put the buckets in them.. Came back like a week later to plant and at least half the holes i dig for the buckets were totally full of water. Needless to say i didnt use any of the holes. This year i'm digging holes and replacing the dirt w/ composted dirt. I'm digging holes that take about 15 gallons of soil and 5 gallons of mulch. Going two plant two per hole in hopes that i will end up w/ a female in most of my spots. Sorry for rambling i'm high i would mos def go for putting them in the ground tho
