''Group buy'' for the ultimate compost tea maker ''Bioreactor''

Hi there, I am about to purchase this wicked 12 gallons compost tea maker http://www.gardenerspantry.ca/compost-tea-brewer.html The Bioreactor at the bottom of the page. It's pretty pricey (I know most get away with regular aquarium pumps but nobody really test their teas to know the actual population of microbes, in fact I am pretty sure than a lot more than half of us are not using enough oxygen in our compost teas.

I know this is expensive and not for everyone but I am just putting the word out and see if other organic gardeners would be interested in a ''group buy'' and I would ask Christina if there is anyway we could get a better price if 10 of us go for it or something.

Let me know what you guys think.

Me? I would buy their kit with the "biological inoculation" agent. Then to Wal Mart for a $2.99 bucket, $1.99 lid and an air pump. Their price is awfully high for what I just described. $190.00 + S/H?

as mentioned in the first post, most people dont use enough oxygen in their teas, one air pump in a 5 gallons bucket is good to get you started, but if you were to analyze the microbes population of each system you would understand. I see where you are coming from and that is what I have been doing for a while. I agree they are over price but the 5 gallons bucket with the aquarium air pump doesnt cut it for advanced compost tea brewing, in my opinion.

Christina is just a re distributor for those system, she is asking what she has to ask for... her website is mostly for all the goodies that you would put in your compost teas.... inoculants and organic fertilizers are very well priced! just to be clear !

I made a 20 Gal vortex brewer for about a 100$. 50$ for the brewer and 50$ for the pump and I love it. I wish I was at home I would take some pics but it works great. I got it connected to a hose so I can water straight from it.

Cheap bucket, quality pump under $50 (more like 30$) = "advanced" compost tea brewing - a plethora of microbes enjoying the worlds largest orgy foam party

one thing I dont like about the 5 gallons bucket and air pump is that sometimes I only want to use 1/3 of my tea and leave the rest to brew an extra day or 2 but then it gets so messy, it seems to me that the bioreactor would make this easy. I would like to see pics of you setup nick .

I dont have a microscope but I am just going with what people I trust have said to me, when you compare the tea from a real brewer to one made with a simple aquarium air pump, they just dont compare under the microscope...

keep the ideas flowing fellas! I am wanting to have a very convenient compost tea station in my basement and so far the bioreactor appears to be what I want.

Then add a second pump! But go spend that money on a simple piece of equipment. Keeps our economy rolling.

Jesus. Did you take biology ever? It ain't the fricking pump. No matter how big or how many cylinders or how many gallons-per-hour - it pumps atmospheric air. But you give me hope as I look to retire soon and it's good to know people will pay big money for basically nothing. It's the bios!!!!!! Buy them separately. This advice is for those reading and not the OP who is convinced this air pump gets her done!

I made my on similar to the bio reactor i took my design from the vortex brewer and love it I will never go back to the traditional bucket brewer. the tea lasts much longer than the buckets you can also have a perpetual tea and never have to clean the brewer if done right

Some more details and a pic if possible please. If somebody else made one I can make it too (my philosophy - being raised on a ranch 120 miles from town). Necessity - the mother of invention.

Thanks for being so friendly, have you analysed your teas with a microscope to be such a fkin prick? the link you gave us dont even work. The website I directed people to is from Victoria, BC and it's a local store for me that I like to support and they are good people.

Thanks a lot shnazul, I would love to see pics of your brewer as well. My main reason for wanting the bioreactor is the perpetual tea idea. THANKS

Ill get some pics up when i go to the spot and do some work tonight. I got my plans from you tube.
