Well, since my first grow, https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/232723-nicks-grow-journal.html
lots of changes, different country, different income, etc. Theres no hydro stores here, in this small town in the tropics, and i think if i explained a hydro grow to anywhere here they would look at me all confused ->.

So whatever, im starting over, in dirt. (ew).
No HPS lighting, no water pumps, no air stones, no bat poo, no seaweed, no gentle soothing sounds of bubbling water.
Just dirt. and a big CFL.

Well i start off with a big CFL in a a housing thing, paid about 75 dollars for it, and some plastic trays 3 dollars, and some of the local dirt (2 dollars for a big bag). and here we go: 2011-09-18_17-21-05_215.jpg2011-09-18_17-22-30_991.jpg

Keep in mind the tray i had was about 20 plugs, lots of seeds, anyways, about a week in, the boxer puppy (bad baby) ate the seedlings (good babies go bye bye). anyways, im left with 4. yup. 20, down to 4. yup.
For all you PETA people out there, the dog is fine, still with us. I wish i could say the same about the 16 that didnt make it. RIP seedlings # 5-20. 9-1-11 to 9-8-11. may we never forget what we lost that day. 2011-09-08_13-23-44_430.jpg2011-09-08_13-24-35_326.jpg2011-09-08_13-24-47_659.jpg2011-09-08_13-23-25_491.jpg

so yea i got bigger pots, retransplanted, and closed off that section of the house to the dog. it was kinda cold in the house, 60 degrees or so in the mornings, so i grabbed a halogen lamp, and hooked it up. more light + more heat, now a cool 72 degrees. anyways, time and patience.... time and patience....

well, i started noticing some strange stuff going on. a white to orange colored particulate on the top layer of soil, as well as some deformation on a -very- late sprouting seedling. Fungai. not to be confused with fun guy, this fungai must be eradicated!

so i went and got some fungus killer, threw it on, the leaves are fixing, the yellow/orange crap on the dirt persists (9/18/11). heres pics of them as of now, keep in mind, theres reflective material added in today, and i am using a nutrient now, have been for a few days, nitrogen heavy.2011-09-18_17-22-42_681.jpg2011-09-18_17-22-04_41.jpg

ok so now 9/18/11, im seeing some issues, the tips of the leaves are curling upwards, one leaf has some odd cuts in it (a bug maybe?) and another pic shows wierd bubbling look, evident on bottom of leaf. Any ideas?
This may be a journal, but post away guys! advice, questions, suggestions, all welcome.2011-09-18_17-23-21_461.jpg2011-09-18_17-21-39_951.jpg2011-09-18_17-24-35_122.jpg

oh yea, i also dont water them directly, i fill the pans underneath with water, they usually dry up in about 2 days, then i wait a lil, and refill it with water. seems to be working well.

Ok !

How often have you emptied the trays ? ferts can deposit in them and I keep my pretty clean. I also always water to about 30 percent run off. That way you flush excess nutrients out of the soil replacing them with new ones.

I think you have over ferted its not unfixable but it is bad. You have reversed the osmotic pressure inside the plant basically making it give out water to lower the concentration of salts in the root zone.

If I were in your shoes I would flush flush flush with some plain ph'd water and use 3 times the containers volume to flush with.

Then I would keep them on water for a bit and introduce a first feed at under a quarter of the minimum strength on the bottle or somewhere in that range. Ganja likes to be hungry wait until it lightens up a bit before you smash it with nitrogen.

What nutrients are you using ?

Got any details on the dirt your using ?

Do you have ph and ec testers ?

All advice is as is and is just the stoned ramblings of someone who likes to grow weed.

yea i clean out the trays once a week, just rinse them basically. the nutrient i got was some random bottle i found in a small mom and pop store, its 9-1.5-3, i used it at half strength, twice, over a week and a half, dont think ive over ferted, ive barely put any in there. basically i get about 2liters of tap water (sitting out so any crap evaporates), and use 1/2 the dosage of nutes, and pour into the pans. the majority of the water is gone in a day, leaving a muddle gunk for day 2, then by day 3 its bone dry. and ill rewater.

The dirt is just some dirt i bought, real dark, lots of crap in it like sticks, leaves etc but they all turn to dust fairly easily. Today i found a place that sells perlite and vermiculite, so ima buy some of that and add it in next transplant.

Im searching for a pH tester and ec tester, small town and everyone just grows in dirt and pots and theres no thought into what they are doing so i may have to end up going online and buying some on there. we'll see, pay day is soon, so ill be doing some exploring.

i guess another issue is this fertilizer, seems good on Nitrogen, but very low on the other 2. i know for veg state its gotta be N heavy... but P-K deficient?

Has the dirt got any lime in it ?

That plant is very small to be feeding I use good quality soil that is nutrient rich and I do not feed anything except root products until a week or two into flowering. Two doses of that with no runoff is a hell of a lot for such a little plant especially in such a rich looking soil.

As I said my advice is as is I just like to grow pot !

ok so i transplanted them a few days ago, into bigger pots with a much better soil added in. organic soil, worm casings, earthworms, perlite. watered a bit, and here they are 3 days later2011-09-28_01-25-04_841.jpg2011-09-28_01-24-58_611.jpg

also i cut the top off of one, to try cloning for the first time, use the hormones and everything, heres the top and the bottom of. the top you can see the 2 new cola's forming. the bottom is doing something kinda wierd, the new growth is very yellow.

um also, i do have a ph tester now, sitting comfortably at 6.5 or so. i got a few more different types of fertilizers, and some hormones, making a nice weak soup mix for them (every 3 days), and foliar feeding daily. Went ahead and bought a high pressure sodium bulb 400w for the flowering, thats gonna wait tho til the smallest is atleast 18in. my main issue i have the time constraint of an ending apartment contract coming at the end of january, so i figure no later than halloween, they have to go into flowering. we'll see.

well the biggest right now is 35cm, and i was looking at my last grow, and i moved them info flowering when they were about the same size and ended up enormous... so i stuck the biggest one in flowering room i got, into darkness... for the first time.... dun dun dunnnnn. the others are smaller, 25cm, 20 cm, and the rest are even smaller (due to topping, cloning etc...) so those will stay in the veg room for now. time to hook up the high pressure sodium lamp!
