Eight plants in a 8x6 closet. How much hps watts do i need to yield something respectable?

i'd do 2 600's with 4 plants under each one along the back of the closet. 600's have a 4x4 footprint roughtly. that way you'll have 2' in the front of the closet for any other equipment you need. if you can get a 240v outlet into the room lumatek makes a dual 600w ballasts. costs about $250 and controls 2 bulbs from 1 ballast.

experience plays a role in your yields as well as other factors! if height is no factor veg till 2-3 feet before flowering!

also you must look at venting system or air cooled lighting in a closet with 2 600 wat hps. or ye thats what i would use to just like scooby said.

I'm in an apartment so 2 600 watt hps might be a bit to much. Is there anything more low profile?

Maybe don't use all the space and get one 400 HPS/MH. Covers a 3x3.

you said you wanted to do 8 plants in an 8x6 closet. just saying. 2 600's isn't that big a deal. electric bill will go up $125 if you are running them 24/0 and $65 when you are running them 12/12. probably will be able to get by just running 1 for veg and both for later in flower as the plants start to stretch. another option is grow smaller plants. veg them to 12" and you could probably get away with 1 600w or 2 400w. figure out how big your plants are going to be...what the footprint of your plants will be...that will determine the lighting you need.
