Grow Box Idea

Check this link. I saw this in Lowes the other day and i was wondering if it was big enough for a small closet grow for 1 or 2 plants. I know some modding will be needed . . . .fan, lights, exhaust, and all that stuff.

Ooh I wanna know if this works too, I actually have a bunch of these storage type things, one with 2 doors and whatnot, from my old house that had no storage. I am a newbie

i dont think u would have enough room for lighting....

If you used CFLs...maybe, i would not use it for a proper grow from start to finish as i think it's too small, you'd have to veg for about a week and then stick it straight onto flowering cycle.
It'd be big enough as a clone box or a start for seedlings..

Your yield would be small. probably about 2/3 grams.


Get something bigger, something roughly the same size as your closet.

or just build your own box out of wood!

I'm about to move into my new apartment and have decided to start grow-op since I don't know anybody out here. I wanted to be as stealthy as possible (a little first timer paranoia), so I've been lookin over the internet for a month to find cheap, homemade, SECURE, stealth growing cabinets. (secure, meaning i can lock it in case management comes in, etc.) So, after I read your post, I went to Lowes and got some stats on the cabinet.

I found a few at the store that have greater depth in them than the one you posted and more room for lighting if you use multiple, single fluorescent, closet light bulb fixtures. Lowe's specially carries 18watt bulbs (which produces 950 lumens per bulb) and 15 watts (which produces 510 lumens). (The lumen count might not be the best , but it will better keep the electric company from monitoring your meter.)

I think this may work because the cabinet can be easily painted a bright white on the inside. It is also made of a material that can be easily cut for inserting ducts, fans, and other necessities. Second, with the directions they provided, it would be easy to assemble. The best part for me (that calms my nerves) is end the end, is that I can put a nice clasp and lock on it and it would look just like an extra storage closet!

I hope some of the more expirenced growers take a look at the links below and check the measurments of the closets, paying particular attention to the width and depth for short plants that like to branch out like the lowryder strains and height and width for those that like to stretch tall and wide. Let me know if this is even possible. I'm actually thinkin about givin it a try.

As for the stealth grow.

You can grow weed in just about anything..
i'd personally go for a wardrobe of some kind.

I saw the dimensions on the little cabinet and thought that would be perfect for keeping all my Hydroponic tools in.
But for growing......forget it. It's waaaaaaaay too small
After you add lights, & ventilation, you'd have approximately 12 inches to grow a plant.
To grow 1 cannabis plant you need at least a 2 foot long by 2 foot deep by 5 foot high growing space.
