lol. Well not everyone wants to spend $400 to grow.
I think I spent something like $250 in the end. Thats not including nutes which ran like another $40.
Im using 8 24w-100w CFL's (daylight for veg)
Im using 4 Y splitters.
4 lights on each plant.
Ill probably switch out 4 bulbs with soft white or warm. and add another 2 warm whites for the lower foliage.
Im using I think Mirical Grow organic potting soil, peat moss and perlite.
The ratio is 4 parts dirt, 1 part peat moss and 2 parts perlite.
Some will say more or less of one or another but its what I like. You can skip the peat moss and use more perlite but thats up to you.
For Lighting I would say go onto
Light bulbs, Rope Lights, Halogen and Fluorescent bulb - 1000-Bulbs - The Light Bulb Superstore and buy one of these
Compact Fluorescent - 65 Watt - Full Spectrum 6500K - Sunlite #05577-65 Light Bulb
this will get you through the veg stage. I would also recommend some sort of a reflector like this.

(get 2 so you have the other so you can add the another bulb for flowering.)
once you decide to start flowering I would recommend
Compact Fluorescent - 55 Watt - Warm White 2700K - Energy Miser #FE-US-55W-27 Light Bulb
Look up on some threads here but you can get all kinds of stuff to use as wall light reflection. The Cheapest is plain white printer paper.
Last but not least is ventilation.
If you have an extra room the I would say hang something in the doorway to obstruct most of the light from turning your room into a tanning salon and just put a regular old household fan in there to move the air. even with both cfls in your closet it wont get to hot with an open door and a fan blowing on the plants/lights.
As for smell. Just go buy some odor killing carbon replacement filters for like an A/C unit. You can get them anywhere. Tap it to the back of a box fan like you see at target and such. It has to be on the back of it. It will suck the air in clean it and your all good. No need for a 200 dollar carbon cylinder air scrubber that requires a crazy 200 dollar blower. I use this for my whole house now after using it for my grow room. lol go figure.
Im pretty sure that cover all the basics. You can figure out the rest like you will need pots etc etc. Once you get into actually having your seeds or clones and such then there is a whole bunch more that I could get into lol. Good luck man.
I dont have reflectors because Im growing in a big chest so the entire inside is reflective. so I saved 100 on that. You can build your own reflectors for super cheap. I saw some on this site. Ill post them If I come across them again.
