Hello all, I plan to introduce myself in the newbie section soon too..but i guess I'll go ahead and start a journal as i do hope to receive feedback on my grow...so feel free to comment anytime...
Currently things are going really well--I learned a lot on here when I was setting up my space and want to thank everyone for that...
what i got:
1000 & 600 HPS-flower
400MH veg
CANFAN COMBO66 FILTER
Passive intake
no co2 enrich--but fresh outside air intake
Rockwool for medium--but looking for change
Homespun Bombdiggity Nutes (i made that name up--but friend makes my nutes-- he uses recipe from Davids Grow formula only sold in chicago & 1 online store) SUPERB for ROCKWOOL IMHO
What I got goin on:
I will soon be harvesting a few Blueberry's (which are fruity for sure--but have never been quite 'blue' coming from my buddie's grow, who donated to my garden...) & a blueberryxNL (which is really just the most beautiful plant--a real lady--i'll put up some pics tomorrow)
As soon as they are cut I have to clean out the room due to spidermites--they are more of a nuisance than a serious problem--but spraying has become a part of my weekly routine (AZAMAX & EINSTEIN)
I have some good lookin veggers waitin to take their place--including a Hollands Hope--which, I believe is a lil more about yeild than quality...we'll see...anyone know anything about it??
**But really, I'm ready to order some seeds--but want to order from best breeders/banks--so any info/advice will be GREATLY appreciated...I have read many threads under seed bank/strain reviews--they tend to focus a lot on the shipping aspect of banks--I would love to read more about seed quality--but that info is sure to be found in other journal/threads s as well--so I'll be lookin...
So, I'm currently using a 1K and 600 HPS in flower w 7 girls (including one I didn't even mention above because it is a mystery strain that I call "the grinch"--i've never felt this way about a plant before--and to say the least--she has been hereby discontued after this harvest) ANYWAY--my space is about 9x10x7 and I use the CAN66 Filter w 8" can fan and it is EFFECTIVE!! I do not vent my lights (yet--as my relectors are some old 70's style or something..) but have oscillating fans blowing the heat/air toward filter--my temps remain stable during the day at about 77/79F but lately tho down to 68/70 at dark. (soon tho when it really gets cold and i have to turn on heat and boiler kicks on--it will warm area and put off mad co2!!) I use passive intake but keep boxfan outside room making sure air is blowing in direction of intake holes and not letting any odorous air escape. I also let a lot of fresh outside air into the area that provides the fresh intake. For exhaust (w filter) I use insulated ductwork, which DRASTICALLY cuts down on fan noise. (Also, my area is made of plastic so I surrounded it w "chambers" for extra security against light and air leaks--and also will try to use this space for drying in hopes that the odor will be sucked into garden and scrubbed...)
I have lately been playing sonatas by bach and perpetual motion by Bela FLeck to my veggers for 3 hours a day and they are responding rather favorably (i think, lol ) (i.e. very rapid, bushy growth, more so than i remember from before, at least... i think...)
I may have to switch nutes soon as what I am using is made by my mentor-- I doubt they want to give me another couple of gallons--but man, this stuff is GREAT--I have added NO supplements whatsoever (no micros no karma no nothing!!) and, well, you guys can judge when i get pics up..and it's just a simple two part solution.. I think I'll just get the recipe and if anyone is interested I will be glad to share it...I do plan to add some liquid karma, spray n grow, and some sort of silica (silicone), to what i have coming up..just to see if they make a diff..
BUT IF ANYONE HAS A NUTE PROGRAM THEY SWEAR BY (I'm using rockwool currently) PLEASE SHARE!!
so yeah, i use rockwool and handwater everyday, usually twice a day--kind of a bitch for sure--but my daily attention def. pays off i think (or atleast, I like to think) I love being in that room though--it's so uplifting--sometimes I just stand & stare & emit co2 and love my girls...
okay anyway, I hope to soon not be using rw just bc of difficulty w disposal and i do not believe it is environmentally friendly--I have gone totally organic in the past using pro-mix and earth juice--and though I loved the finished product as far as taste and purity--I struggled w ph levels, my plants never seemed as vigorous or as yeilding as when i use my buddies nute mix w rockwool, (and the hydro buds still taste heavenly as i always do a 7 day flush) I don't measure EC or PPM (yet) so i never really knew what they were getting--and really I still don't since my nutes don't come w a label--just told "this much then, this much then, this much then--then BADDA BING (lol) but really, i would like to learn other techniques...My knowledge and experience are rather limited for as many successful grows as I've had (and I've also had a few not so successful--or undesirable circumstances that I have been able to learn from--I really just want to learn every possible thing I can possibly apply to the betterment of my garden
& I'm not even sure what bubbleponics and DWC are exactly --but if anyone has read this far and could explain it to me--that would be lovely...

oh & RIU has definitely become a part of my grow experience as well bc I have gotten very addicted over the last few weeks--my man is getting annoyed

I plan on pickin up some liquid karma & some silica blast...also I would like a good root stimulator--any suggestions??
