Grow gear or seed order

Well, first off I would like to say hello to everyone. I have been a long time soil grower and now I think I would like to go hydro but, I would also like to get some good seeds and unfortunately can not do both. So, I was looking for a little advice. Should I get a nice hydro set up and grow bagseed or get some good strains and still grow in soil? I have never grown a "good/name brand" strain in soil only bagseed. So if it were you and you could only get 1 or the other would you get good hydro gear and grow bagseed or good strains and still soil grow? Thanks for any help!

how much money you got? i would try to do both, i feel for you but thats how we all start no name, brandx seeds so to speak, and this is how some of the best discoveries have been found. if i where you and you dont have a single legit strain yet, go ahead and buy the seeds. normally i would say gear, but you need at least one strain to make all the gear worth while after you first couple grows with the basic setup/.

If you are a competent soil grower I say get some quality gear and grow it. My guess is you will be amazed at the step up in quality and can revisit the decision then.

I have around $600 to spend.

more than enough to do both unless you are looking for a large scale hydro setup. eg 10+ 5gal buckets

Build your own simple 5 gallon DWC with stuff from Lowes and Pet Smart. Less than $35 with a good air pump and all. I have 6 or 7. Very simple to make and operate. Great yields.

Get the set up.......grow bag seed for the meantime and get aquatinted with the new gear. If you got 30$ extra bucks go to attitude or Herbies and hit the pick and mix section and now you have both! Just remember to take cuttings!

Cool thanks for that info man! That was my next question. What seed bank to use.

Try this - four 5-gallon buckets. A 600 watt HPS can cover especially if you did a scrog from early on. A 1000 watt HPS would rock. My room rocks.
Oh yeah man! I always scrog and LST my plants. Small grow area and I think it helps my yield. Sorry for the double reply I didn't see the multiquote button until just now.

My advice is to get good gear from a reputable breeder. in my experience nothing makes up for having a really killer strain. plus ive been tempted by the lures of hydro and i have to say its not that great. sure they flower faster and sometimes the flowers are more dense but its my personal opinion that potency and taste, taste above all, are far superior in soil or amended soilless. if youd like to experiment with using nutients, coco or coco/soil mix is cheaper on nutes than straight hydro and faster flowering than pure organics. What i do is mix FF Ocean Forest with GH Coco at 1:3 ratio and add a lil perlite. then halfway through flower i give them 1/4 strength Advanced Nutes A+B, Bud Candy, Big Bud and my Blue Widows come down in 9 weeks tasting like heaven.

OK, so $600 is enough to do both what 3 strains would you guys go with? I don't really know much about any strain really. Never took the time to research them as I have always grown bagseed.

Sounds like s good solid plan with reason. I feed bloom nutes only once during flower and that is about midway through flowering. I add cal mag twice generally as a preventative in soil, Fox Farms Beastie Bloomz 1/4 teaspoon in a 5 gallon DWC.

Depends on what gear you already have. I assume you already have lights and mylar and ventilation taken care of and all that... But, if you do have to buy a light, air cooled reflector, air pump, carbon filter, inline fan, tds meter, ph meter, hydro nutes, possibly water chiller, and $150 in misc shit plus $50-$100 of seeds. Good luck with that.

If you already have most of what you need from growing soil indoors, then you can start knocking down the total cost. A little cheaper would be hempy buckets.

I would just get some bomb as fuck seeds and do another soil grow and spend my remaining $500 on whores and coke... it really just matters what gear you already have but you didn't tell us so...
