Grow Kit vs A La Carte

I've been looking at some complete grow kits, and also complete grow boxes online, and have found some pretty good deals. Looks like it could save me a couple hundred dollars if I were to get one as opposed to buying all of my equipment individually. My only concern is the quality of the equipment included in the grow kits, and potential return hassles because I'd be dealing with a company out of Canada. Not so much the tent, but the exhaust fan, carbon filter, ballast, and lights. Any good/bad experience with grow kits? Input would be greatly appreciated!

they are all different, can you give some info on which product brands are in the kits. the the ballasts lumatek or what? don't buy anything like a supercloset they are way overpriced

having done a lot of shopping aroudn before i started buyign thigns i can tell you that it is cheaper to buy all the gear yourself then it is to buy a complete grow kit. when you buy all the pieces yourself you also get exactly what you need/want for the type of grow you are doing and most of the tent combos i looked at came with a weak light(150w hps) and a small tent. if your looking for a good source in canada for some stuff i was very happy with the equipment i got from www.growtents.com i bought the 2x3x5.3 tent and a fan and filter combo. there customer service answered my questions quickyl and everything arrived within 4 days by ups, free shipping!

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if I could post links on here or not without getting my post taken off. I'm looking into getting a 3x3 (ish) tent, and running either a 400w HPS or 600w HPS to 4-5 plants. Here are the specs for the tent kit I was looking at:

Everything in this kit looks to be pretty decent, and has a price tag of $535.00 I went to growtents.com and they are out of the tent size that I am interested in. The stuff included in the kit I'm looking at doesn't say what brand any of it is, but it does come from a reputable distributor at least. When piecing my own setup together my number usually ends up between $700.00 and $800.00, but with all name brand equipment. I'm going to keep shopping around, and am not rushing to buy anything at this time. But, in the near future I need to make up my mind! Saving a couple hundred dollars would be great, but so would getting some quality equipment that's going to last for years!

sounds good i have seen 4 by 4 tents for 139.00 free shiping the fan and filter 160.00 all depend on how much the light is and want kind is all the other product
