Grow Light Heat Shields - Good or Bad !?!?

I have been thinkin about buying a 'PowerPlant' Heat Shield for my HPS light. - Currently cheapest i can find is eb*y at £11.94 Inc. p&p.

Will these actually help or will it block out valuable light ?!

It apparently helps yields (by up to 50% ?!? i cant see that happening )
by enabling you to get the light closer to the green stuff !!

If anyones used / using one i would love 2 hear what their realy like before i waste some more $$.

i was looking at 1 of those myself but decided it aint worth it but i would like to see what people have to say about them

I'm currently keeping up with a thread about NOT using reflectors. This guy has a FANTASTIC vertical light...400w HPS...that he is using and even his bottom buds are doing great. I just ordered the same as his and purposely DID NOT buy a reflector. His pics. are pretty impressive. Let me see if I can forward you his thread.

you can go vertical with a cooltube (minus its reflectors)

I got myself a PowerPlant heat shield in the end... found it cheap on ebay; £8/$16 delivered.

Quick and easy to fit - 2 screws !!

It does block out alot of heat but i found i could only get another 3-4" (inch) closer so im not expecting the ''50% Improved Yield'' as the packet stated !!

It also spreads the light around better so no hot spots or shady patches,
for the money i cant complain, defo worth the buy if you have not got a cool shade etc !!
