Grow Room Final Draft

Grow Plan:

After hanging around this forum for about a week now I think I've figured out how I'm going to put together my first indoor grow.
(Thanks SikSol, Hayduke, Oregon Meds, etc. for the help.)

I'll try to lay it all out as best I can and I would appreciate any input. I wanna have seeds in soil before March!

-4'x6' closet
-150watt HPS ballast w/ reflector
-Mylar for walls
-16'' oscillating fan for airflow/light cooling
-20-25 plants in 20oz containers grown SOG but I think for the first go I'll just veg all at once and only for like 1-2 weeks with the HPS
-3-1 Ratio Foxfarm Organic Soil and Perlite
-1/2 strength Foxfarm Tiger Bloom (if needed)
If I come across a water filtration system that is in my price range I may go with that but if not I will be sure to let it sit and always PH test.
I am not setting up any ventilation system just yet but during the day I will have the closet door open and the bedroom sealed up with a ionizer or some other filtered air cleaner going for smell.
I've also heard that spraying soda water can help a lot with co2 so I'll keep a spray bottle of that standing by and hit my plants a couple times a day.
Thats about all I can think of right now, let me know if you need any more info to give me your input.

The strain I want to grow is Chocolate Chunk but it's spendy so maybe I'll just get an indoor mix.

I could use a good guide to drying bud indoors too!

Thanks and peace.

Sorry, the 20oz bottles only take up about a 2'x2' area. Originally I had planned to do this with a 315watt CFL ballast with a reflector but I was urged to go with the 150watt HPS because it puts out more lumens. I'm talking tiny plants guys, smaller than lowryders in most cases.

You should deffinetly use atleast a 400 watt light for that space, or your buds will be small and loose,,, shitty.

it dosnt matter the strain of plant they all need a certain amount of light per square foot or they wont produce.

if you are just experimenting that will be fine. but if you really want to grow some buds , invest in a bigger watt light.

So maybe I should think about going with the 250? If I got a gram per watt off the 150 that would be like 7 grams per plant....seems very reasonable for the type of grow I'm trying to do.

I'm not talking about strain I'm talking more about dwarfing whatever strain I do grow so they're all under 1/5' tall. You don't think 150 is enough light for that? I mean...with plants that small all 20-25 of them would fit directly under the ballast.
I'm willing to go bigger if I have no choice but that's just that much more heat and energy drain i gotta deal with.

you can get by with 150w HPS for 20-25 plants because you got to consider they wont take up much room, I have 15 sitting in a cookin pan thats about 2ft by 1 ft under 1 150w HPS and 8 27w 6500k CFL's. All mine are growing at a fairly good pace, will reach about 2 ft and produce .5 - 1 ounce.

Remember the more light the better though, so if you got the extra change get another HPS, bigger one or at least throw in some CFL's I like using a multi spectrum of lighting throughout a 12/12 from seed grow.

Ill be shure to post pics of my new setup Im putting together now, 4' by 8' grow tent, with a flower section for 6 plants in a bubbleponics system with a 1000w HPS with air cooled tube and reflector. The veg and clone section will have a 5 plant veg DWC hydro setup under 315w CFL multi spectrum light setup under reflector, and 8 27w 6500k CFL's for the clone setup which is a SH fogger system for 16 clones. Costing me a little over a grand for it all.

he should also consider introducing co2 into the room by way of water, or air. it will increase bud production (denser)
and at least a 250 mh with reflector will get you your 7grams per plant. (if nothing goes wrong, knock on herb)

I was planning on spraying with carbonated water for co2 but what's this about putting more in the water?

You can always stick to the cheap ways of doing things and nothing is wrong with that I did it for some time produced enough herb for myself for the most part. As you find yourself striving for more and better bud you find yourself spending more and more also.

Get yourself a little more light if you can and then just get this grow under your belt dont worry about gettin a really nice amount this go around just get the hang of everything fix mistakes and perfect things that way you can just keep getting better with each grow. Before you know it you will be knockin out nice ass grows.

Thats what Im saying man i dont even know if Im gonna want to continue growing after I do it a time or two! I should maybe think about at least getting a little bit bigger light though
