I am a very inexperienced grower. I am about half way through my first grow, which is doing good. but I have decided to make my grow a lot bigger. I live in the country and have all the space I need for both indoor/outdoor grow. I have 2 1000w HPS SunSystem lights I also have light movers that are on about a 35 ft rail. My questions are about how many plants can I place under this rail and these lights, how far apart should I place them???? I do not plan on having a veg and a flower room i basically want one big harvest. Any help would be great. please let me kno If I need anything else besides ventilation.

my honest opinion is that light movers are not a good idea for flowering plants. since they only receive 12 hours of light and require as much energy as they can to produce buds using a light mover to actually cover more plants than your lights will allow normally is a bad idea. using them for supplemental lights, in veg, or for changing the light angles for your plants is fine. trying to cover a 5x10 area with a light that has a 5x5 footprint will just lead to diminished yields on more plants.

i would say 9 plants per 1000w light that are 24" when you switch them to flower. you could probably top them and LST them as well to make them bushier.

nvm I found what LST means
Check this out:

Also Scooby gives good advice. Many people "top" their plants at 9" and 16" to make them bush out hopefully creating more sites to bud...LST is good, too. Do more research on RIU. Just how many plants are you growing and what strains?
Did you use the 2 HPS for veg? T5's will save some $$$ for veg. I plan on using 2 600w MH for the first two weeks of flower, too, then my Hortilux HPS bulbs. I went with 600w given my set up.
I figure with my 2 600w bulbs I'll max out at 10 plants...maybe. I will also use 2 250w Feliz veg CFL and reflectors in the flower room for continued veg.
Keep asking questions and search the forums. Everyone here will add something to your grow....hmmmm will you share? LOL
Good luck!

right now I am only about 1 month and 20 days in on my first grow after this grow I am going to expand. Since its only my first grow I decided to start small with only 6 plants and all bag seed (I was just testing my gardening skills). these are pics of what I got so far, the first pic is from a seed I planted on May 10th I just topped it n took a pic. the other 3 in the big pots I planted on April 10th their probably 14 in now but I am going to try to grow them huge. Yes I am using 1 HPS right now in veg got it on a 24/0 cycle.

What about using a 3' rail instead of 10'. Instead of increasing the area the light illuminates, you just move it around the same grow area a little and reduce hot spots and can get your light a couple inches closer to the plants. Do you think that could help a grow out a bit?
