my grow space is a small space 6ft high, 3 ft wide, 2.5ft door to wall. I have 600w hps light. the bulb glows "white" and the other "orange". small intake fan for fresh air going in and exaust fan taking air out.

My question is can I use the "white" light in a space like this for veg as I don't have any other light. and what is the "orange" bulb for.
don't know to much about growing just would like some feedback on my space. thanks....:leaf:

best advice I can give you, is to read a lot, and then some, lots of nice guides and youtube videos out there, google is a nice tool

the "white" bulb is most likely a MH bulb with a high Kelvin color and is best used in veg and early bloom wile the "red" bulb most likely are a HPS bulb with a low Kelvin color and is best used in full bloom

As a rule of thump a 600W can cover a 4x4 ft space so you got plenty of light there for a few plants in that kind of room, tho I do hope you have a strong ventilation and maybe even a cool tube to keep temperatures in order (74-80F) attest tell me you made a trail run to check ?

You need to learn about HID lighting it should only take about 5 minutes
Yes read about HID lighting, it burns very hot, if bulb is sprayed with water it will explode, needs very secure hanging, another word is a fire hazard and ticking bomb.

Do not even light it up before you do serious homework on it.

Refering to bulbs as a"white" and "yellow" suggests that you do not know crap about HID lighting. Not to be rude but HID lighting should be treated with utmost respect and caution.

And DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB WITH YOUR BARE HANDS, this too will screw up the bulb. Trial and error will get you there, but safety first.
GOODLUCK

yea no greasy finger prints on the bulb`s, they get HOT ! wipe em off and use some paper or sum thing when you screw em in so they stay clean, a cool tube is a good investment, specially in a small room, combined with a nice ventilation they can keep temperatures in order and with the ventilation you also have the option to fit a carbon filter for once they begin to flower/stink ! things that would be on my X-mass wish list if I had a small room and a 600W light

Etc.

(picture of the cool tube is with a 400W ballast/bulbs)

I guess a cool tube, a ventilation and filter with some alu ducting would run you about 300ish $
