Hello all,

So i was looking to buy a grow tent

looking for 5x5 and 6' tall

Was wanting to run c02 and wondering if all tents are air tight and will work good with c02 or if anyone can make me a good recommendation

dont really need vent holes as im running LEDs THAT ARE AWESOME AND CFLs CANT TOUCH THEM, LOL (sorry getting sick of people knocking them when they havent seen them first hand)

but anyways, places like gotham hydro sell the size im looking for, for around 120 and others like jardin want like 350$

are they all perfectly air tight and perfectly dark and light blocking? i am new to tents and wanting to get a quality one that will last a long time

Dude there are so many DIY tent threads, I made mine for $0 and in other cases the most you will pay is about $80 for the white/black material. Its so easy I will never buy one...

Verde- both my can fans came with the brackets u can see on them, i hang them with zip ties so theres no vibration at all!..i use zip ties for almost everything in the tent..their easy to put things up and just as easy to take down! my carbon filter is heavy so thats the only thing that doesnt get a zip tie lol..

I'm hoping guessing my fan will come with the bracket.. I will definitely use zip ties for the fan. Great idea :bigjoint:

This is the type of carbon filter.. I'm guessing I'll use bungie cords for that? Any other suggestions?



& your using zip ties to seal the ducting to the fan/filter yes? What do you think is better, the metal bands - or zip ties?

Can you break yours down, equipment and all, pack it up and be out of dodge in an hour and then go set up somewhere else in about an hour?


I can :)

Tents have their pros.... convenience is one I guess.
 
hahahaha i was thinking the same thing serapis! i find it hard to belive that someone can make a tent for "0$" that can even compare to the worst tent manufactured! lol..but yes for some $ u can build ur own, wont be half as easy to set up and take down though!..second time i set up my tent i had it up in 15 min!..in an hour i had everything hanging and ready for plants!

verde, bungees wouldnt be a bad idea for your filter..i used chains and some velcro straps that came with my tent...zip ties is whats used to tie flex ducting to vents when doing HVAC so yah i would say their just as good as big metal exhaust clamps or hose clamps w.e. u wanna call them..u should try to find a pre filter for the carbon filter too!

I believe it comes with a pre filter.. that you have to replace yearly or something?



What are some other options besides bungees to hold up that phresh can filter? Setting up tomorrow.. might have to hit home depot once I get a look at everything... I'm actually not buying the carbon filter for another few weeks... mid veg.. so humm


im thinking of having seperate timers for the inline fan/mh.. so they don't all power on at the same time?
And When I get the carbon filter I was thinking of having the inline fan run for like 30 minutes every 3 hours during the dark cycle, to get rid of smell that builds up? DOES the smell build up? I've never ran 4 in a tent
 
For the filter u can just use like twine or some kind of rope, chains might vibrate.. pre filters just trap dust and what not,i never replaced mine..lol
turning the fan on during the night cycle isnt a bad idea at all..mines is off all night and yes smell does build up!..but onces the fan kicks on its gone in like 20 min. as long as i dont open the door to my grow room its fine.

So the carbon filter really scrubs that shit? Like the smell can be hanging stinky and turn the carbon filter on and its gone? from the whole room?



I always wondered about growing strains like Sour Diesel and AK 47, as far as the smell WITH a carbon filter... I wondered if there was a noticeable difference between strong smelling strains and the normal smelling strains -with a carbon filter/ tent... sorry if thats confusing your helping me a great deal here... i've learned a shit tonne about ducting and fans, filters, hps & whatnot in the last few days... where would I be without rollitup? :lol:
 
i would like to know aswell because i wanna grow some sour diesel or ak-47 aswell, but dont wanna get a pleasantly unpleasant surprise (stink) outside of the room and have to a get another filter or something along those lines

If u have ur fan/filter on a timer with ur light like i do and it turns off at night then yes ur room is going to stink..not just in the tent but outside aswell..

EXAMPLE: Ur tent is in a spare bed room, ur fan/filter turn off at night, if u go into the spare bed room u will smell pot and it will leak out into the rest of ur house!.

i have a door seal at the bottom of my door..nothing gets in,nothing gets out!..if u are worried about smell then i would kick ur fan/filter on every hour for about 20 min or so to clean the air/smell of pot!.. any strain is gunna smell once it start to flower...even in vegg plants can have a strong pot smell!

Yes, the fan/filter will clean the air in the spare room also..as long as the vents in ur tent r open and sucking air into the tent!

One cheap way to deal with smell is to mix fabreeze with water then put it in one of the cheep humidifier. Run it like 15 min every hour next to the outside of the tent. Also the glade plugin oils with the fans on them work well to cover. I use the lavender/Vanilla outside the grow room. Inside i use carbon filter and the ozn-1 ozone generator.
 
gonna buy my hvac stuff needed to hook up my fan today and i will finally have pics..... seems like this was a good time because my ladies are starting to get a bit smelly and i have bible studies at my house....... AWKWARD!!!! nah i just close my door and its cool for now but after today there will be no issues. I'll post pics of my new setup soon check the sig to see what i have setup so far on the tent. oh and i concur that a premade tent is ideal for grab and go. if i had to i could have my setup down in under 10 minutes and out the door plants and all in under 20. apt growers need the ease to leave!!

Why is your fan off at night? Doesnt the air need to be exchanged every five minutes or so?
 
I keep ONA near my front door and an Ozone generator near the door of the room with the tent. I also have a nice carbon filter/scrubber, but I'm paranoid and besides, the other methods help cover when the tent is open. My fan runs 24/7 to keep the negative pressure in the tent.
 
this may be innaprporiate, but i have a 40x40x70 grow tent shell from htg supply. it is black with a mylar interior there are 4, 6 in vent ports, 2, 4 inch vent ports, and 3 passive intake air vents. perfect for diy, just because well, you HAVE to DIY.
would liket o trade for 6 clones that have already rooted. i need them to go directly into a 12/12 schedule. these are simply to supplement the loss of the males as i foolishly didint start enough. going into 3 gallon grow bags, soil. or 1 oz of quality meds. by quality i mean dry AND cured, all i see up here is premature herb, that isnt even dry!! bought a bag yesteday and the stem just striped when i tried to break off a nug, it was so wet! if not no biggie, as i will just buy another light and set up a perpetual. but if you act now on this limited time offer you can get it for one easy payment! lol. seriously just putting the offer out there, no biggie if no ones takes it, but awesome if someone does.

All 3 big ass vents in my tent are open (hydro hut silver editions have big vents)and theres a 16" oscillating fan that runs 24 hours,theres a lot of air flow with it!they do just fine at night.
 
hey, i hate to ask a repeated question but: Can some one list a few top brand grow tents so i can compare them all before i buy another tent. i want to get a really good quality one.
