Do you guys think these seedlings are to small to go under my 1000 watt? They were started with a 4' 4 bulb T5. Last time I started them under it but I don't know if it will be diff with the T5 at the begining.

im vegging seedlings with a 1000 w mh, and they're doing great.
Great to hear! Everyone told me to either use CFLS or floros.. but I'm like I just spent alll this money on the hood and ballast..

But they seem to be reacting extremely well to it :)

Actually, that is not the case with HID lighting. As long as the seedling is receiving sufficient light for photosynthesis, it is not going to stretch and try to reach for the light. A good reason NOT to raise seedlings under HID lamps is because of the waste in power and resources. HID bulbs aren't cheap, and you have to raise them so high to avoid cooking the seedlings that you are wasting a lot of energy that never gets used. If you are then exhausting and or cooling the area, you are wasting even more power. I'm not suggesting anyone hug a tree, I'm simply pointing out what I consider wasteful. Seedlings do just fine under fluorescent lighting.

reason why its not good to vegg seedlings with hid lighting is due to STREEEEEEECHHHHHHHHHHH!

just like u said about raiseing the lights to not cook the seedlings, that is gunna cause the plants to strech... it happend to me when i through in some plants under my 600w mh to early..this is just my opinion from whats happend to me in experience..

What exact experiences are you rferring to please? Please give us an example that you had happen with some details please.... I think you are comparing apples to oranges... Flowering plants stretch, seedlings don't, unless they don't get enough light. We were discussing seedlings, not plants that you moved from vegetating to flowering

That defies all logic..... and scientific reasoning. Plants do not elongate stems to reach a physical light. They stretch if they do not receive enough light for photosynthesis. If the plant is receiving enough light, it's not going to stretch. A 1000 watt HID lamp can be placed 10' over the seedlings, and they are still going to receive enough light to avoid stretching. I've laid out two great reasons NOT to raise seedlings under HID lamps, stretching is not a problem with HID lamps...

I would have to seriously question the brain power of anyone that claims experience otherwise, unless of course it is something extreme and stupid, like a 150W HPS at 8' above the plants....
