alright gentlemen here's my story...
today i was approached by a very close friend-after showing him some of the pictures from my med gardens, he offered to buy me a setup and we split the yield, he invests in the setup, i grow and we split the flowers (im keeping the trim
) so we were trying to figure out the best setup for a tent, dudes a mad man and wants to run 1k hps in an unknown size tent (open to suggestions) im kinda under the impression he is willing to invest a decent amount, i wouldn't mind running a 1k in a tent but kinda wanted to go the air cooled route, im thinking about keeping the carbon scrubber in the tent and also running some home-made co2 bottles.
what size tent can the 1k handle?
if i do go the air cooled route and vent into a huge open bedroom with a window unit ac will i be ok?(house also has central air which will be on)
how big of a fan will i need to keep actual tent cool and also achieve good circulation?
should i also grab a de-humidifier for outside the tent?
would a 600w switchable be a better more realistic route?
are most of these tents quality products? no light leaks etc?
i do have an old school magnetic ballest 1k hps i never even used (made sure it worked and never used the thing)
the grow will not be in my house, but will be in town, being that it isn't my house will the inlines and ballast be loud if someone was trying to sleep down the hallway?
does the 50/50 split of yield sound fair? (i think it sounds fantastic)
also the homeowner smokes (has cancer/med card etc)
obv we would cover any increase in power/bills- supply all the smoke she wants(prob doesn't even smoke an ounce a month) (and i was gonna make some treats for her with the trim and also kick down some of the worlds strongest butter)
should both parties be down i would be open to any and all advice.... my buddy made it sound like money was not a problem- but i do want to keep things reasonable- like using my old school 1k setup and just buying a new air cooled reflector....
also i will be taking care of her lawn, and stepping up to be "the man of the house" so i will have reason to stop in a few times a week without the neighbors starting to question what a young kid is doing over there (im 25, not young but dont want people thinking im 16 with pipe dreams)
i have done a few medical grows inside and outside but nothing as specific as a 1k stuffed into a tent with inlines and all the jazz.....

You can run 1kW's in tents and have several options. 4x4 is your minimum size, 5x5 gives you more flexibility, and a 4x8 with a light mover is ideal. All of these will afford you room to hang your filter inside the tent.
Most tents you find are pretty decent. I have ordered three from ebay all from different companies and all work great.
I would highly recommend sealed air cooled hoods when working with tents. You shouldn't need any larger than a 440 cfm fan.
Give me a sec and I'll post some cheap sources to give you an idea of a decent set-up. You shouldn't end up spending any more than $1k. You could probably do it for $500 if you went with cheap gear - I would greatly recommend buying quality though.

they run cooler than the hps and is also a better spectrum for plants, and at 41,000 lumes per lamp i think 82,000 should be fairly decent for a 5x5ft space, with a decent veg time we should be clearing a lb every 2 months which is more than sufficient for 3 people (lol)
thinking the 5x5 is the size were gonna go with, gonna get some info from the og's on which cmh is best and try and find some nice air cooled reflectors.. def gonna be picking up the inline and carbon scrubber you linked, decent price and htg is a great company (act they make the cmh im eying right now too...

Heres my grapegod, grapefruit diese,l sour kush and lsd.The Grapegod has by far the most bud and all the little branches wanna make big buds im prob gunna have to support them...the little branch in the pic has grown out and is using light reflected off the tent door

I know, I didn't want to have any more for the amount of water I have in the reservoir which is only 20 gal. this is my first indoor hydro grow, so it is really a trial and error design. It will also give me plenty of air space, as well as room for more lights, which during flowering I am going to add 4 UVB lights. Next grow I may go a different route and do 6 single 5gal buckets with an outside reservoir, but like I said its a trial and error design.

Here is updated pictures two white widows, one Big Bud, and one Northern lights, all 9 days old. The NL had a rough start, it had gotten stuck in the plug upon germination so I forced it out of the shell and into the light. I am using 1000w hps for veg which I am nervous of doing but was told it can be done. My budget ran short and am unable to afford a 1000w MH at the moment, but we'll see how they do, they seem to be healthy, what do you guys think.

& thats not even the frostiest one... the one in back is the sativa pheno and wayyyy frosty... like hardly-make-out-the-calyxes frosty... going to take a while longer for the sativa though! & were already 76 days into flowering.
I'll come back with some sativa pheno pics in a few weeks!
