yeah but if it's warm where you're at, the higher you get the harder it is to control temperature. lights produce heat, as does each floor of the home, which rises. the roof is also getting sun from above.

IF u can do either, do the basement. Like the above guy said, for temp reasons.

Basement, temp reasons. Venting is easy into an attic or right out the side of the house if you are on a higher level, but the basement will allow you to first of all keep the light closer to the plants and second of all, have less fans constantly running to cool down the space. You will probably see slightly higher yields because of this.

If you are able to tap into and exhaust out to fresh air in an attic I would do that over a basement, all that free co2 you can bring in from outdoors will help a lot. If you are somewhere very hot though I guess I would go with a basement.
