I just got one of these and this will be my first led grow. I'm coming from a 400 watt hps** after years of saying I would never own a led** My nephew who is a med mmj patient had me watch a YouTube video of this led and was sold. Owner said it would produce close to a 400 watt without the heat.
So, I come to you guys to see some input about this light if you own one. I'm an older grower and don't frequent the forms much but seen some really nice led grow here and ya seem like a good bunch. Also, do some strains seem to do better under LEDs?

Groblu is a rebranded Cidly Apollo light, which has been much discussed on these forums.

Many do not like this style of LED due to its cheaper parts, and questionable warranties, and higher failure rates, compared to other brands.

But I've used such a light (different re-brander than Groblu) with success, and grow good dank with it. Its not as nice as some of the higher end LED's, like Area 51, but it should work for you.

I find certain strains do better than others under this kind of LED, but it still should work for you.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah from what I gather with these Apollo type LEDs companies buy and do their modifications.. Epistar and bridgelux are good chips, right? Their is a thread where a grow blue out preformed an A51. I came very close to buying an A51 led.
The big thing for me was the battle with heat! I put the led in the same set up that held my HP's and ran it all day to see what the temps would be like and was very surprised to find that it runs a few degrees above ambient temps. You don't know how happy that made me. Lol

Area 51 or Apache led is better with you . Stay away from Growblu or the rebranded Cidly LED lights . The pictures can let you know that what Kineboisin 420 said is true . Failed Apollo LED lights.jpg

Uh oh, the troll Hgrow has come up from under his/her bridge again.

Dont mind Hgrow's ranting about Apollo lights...I've used mine for over a year without incident. I know others that have used them without incident...only time will tell if yours is a good one or a bum one.

That said, she is right. They are low quality low efficiency LEDs. The largest Groblu/apollo only dissipates about 400W in the LEDs and they charge $1000, so it cost $2.50/W. The Onyx bloom cost $2.15/W and uses Cree XML2 3000K T4, awesome bin with a Mean Well driver. Huge difference in efficiency and the Crees are tough LEDs they will not burn out.

Sorry to be talking smack about anyones gear but we want to warn others and steer the money toward the companies that are providing the best value.

They're rebranded Chinese epi-whatever lights sold at a fantastic markup. Epi-whatever diodes aren't very efficient. They run hot. For similar money you could have got an efficient light using better diodes (Cree, Osram, Phillips).

Buying a Chinese import wouldn't be too bad because it would only cost $200. At least that would be in the category of "getting what you pay for." When someone buys GrowBlu (or Blackdog, Lush, Kind, HydroGrowLED, Platinum), they're not even getting that.

It's crazy, i have 1x2m cabinet (55cm depth) divided into 3 sections, on top is S&P 160 bottom is watering sumps, i have around 1.30m height for growing, temperature at the bottom of the growing section is 37c. i know it's possible to grow with a lot of watering but i'm realllly disappointed.

I almost checked thermoelectric solution, but i like to avoid high electricity bills as it drains so much power.

DISAPPOINTING!, no what? put the led in storage and get another 700w~ unit?

Was also thinking to replace my S&P silent 160 with stronger one. but I already own it and 4" carbon filter. don't want to waste more money as this cabinet cost much anyway. plus i got my seeds and all and just waiting for my pots to arrive.

btw, temp room is around 23-25c it's my home office and cannot cool it for the plants any further. maybe 2c less...

That sounds like it's your weak point. You shouldn't have a 12(c) degree temperature difference between your living space and inside the cabinet. Even if the light run hot due to inefficient epi-whatever diodes, that just means you have to run the fan higher speed to exchange more air.

Sounds like your choice is a more efficient LED, or improve your ventiliation. 4" ventilation sounds small for 1x2m. I have a 4x4ft tent and use 6". I run it at half speed during the summer when the living space is around 82f. I can keep the tent at 84f.

That is correct my friend, would you think 250 cfm should make it? as i don't want to replace my 4" carbon, stronger model will require disassemble of my ventilation shelve. (i also have 20cm height for air filtration), two or one cup saw 4" intakes?

This is a sketch of my cabinet, i have s&p 250/100 one 4" hole for intake and 4" on top for out, there are shelves on top and bottom, the top shelve has a 4" hole.

temp is still high, I think to add more 4"'s on the top shelve.

Thinking of adding computer fans to extract to the top area.

what do you guys think?

Hey guys new here I've done 1 outdoor grow and been making plans to do an indoor, I was wondering what your thoughts are on running 2 Mars hydro 144s in a 4x4 grow tent?
