Especially in LED advertising. Majority of LED companies adds are complete utter bull shit, trying to get the uneducated buyer to purchase their piles of shit! Look how many watts most companies claim. It’s like they pull it out of thin air cause they’re not drawing anywhere close to advertised wattages from wall! One of the only companies that actually does adverse honestly is Black Dog and why I have 3 phytomax2 1000’s and 800!
Usually reputable companies have quality control and won’t allow bad ones to make it in retail. Although of these companies lights are made in China and that kind of makes quality control difficult. That’s why I stay away from Chinese lights unless I’m going to go totally cheap and get alibaba knock offs!

Yeah it does suck. I bought their 4 bar 420 model and knock on wood haven't had any issues with it so far. Like you I thought it was a good looking light and the amount I paid made it seem even better. Happy to have a backup after following this thread.

That's half the reason for my post, I did my due diligence and yet still I got screwed. In all honesty it's baffling to me how many people purchase LED lights but don't own a PAR meter.

Don't fret, the 420's and 680's are legit. I have several of both, and I am very happy with both which is why I was excited about the 720's. I use the 420 in veg, replacing a 600wMH HID. The 420 far outperforms the 600w HID when the selector is at half power. I have yet to go beyond 50% power, and run at 25%, 80% of the time.
Black dog is a little too pricey for me. For my money the Gavita e1700 is the Gold standard. Only Problem is they don't fold and are back ordered a month or so.

That’s funny! You obviously have never seen the results or used one! I’m sure you’re getting 3pounds plus/light, with your Gravita too. With the right clones, I can guarantee you I can get 2 grams/watt from the BD’s and people have. Not saying I wouldn’t take a Gravita, cause they are damn good lights, but given the choice I’d take my Black Dog Phytomax2, 1000’s every day of the week, over the Gravita! I’ll happily compare results to prove my point! By the way, you can not buy better lights for half the price. That’s just silly talk there!

Considering I have a journal going, right now, I’ll be around to prove it. This run, I’ll have zero chance of yielding 2g/light cause I’m doing a pheno hunt and those aren’t how you maximize yields! Once I have the right strain and fill my flower room up with the clones, I have no doubt I’ll be able to reach that magical ratio. I have 3 1000’s going now and should easily yield 10 lbs from them. If you ask me, that’s pretty damn impressive for doing a pheno hunt, with around 7 different strains, I’ve never grown before.
