  • I have some "bag seed" I'm experimenting with some are better quality than others and I have one seed of arctic sun fro. This dank batch of indoor I bought haha was like finding the answer to life haha. Just looking to grow for personal use so, low cost energy efficient techniques. I've seen some guys using CFLs so I'm thinking of frabricating a ballast out of wood suspended by chains with 6 lights and some sheet metal. Following which I will order some nice Fem seeds. Are mt plants going to need complete darkness? Because I wanted to plum my tank to have the plants sit ontop of the tank preferably. It's going to be in my lounge as well so there might still be natural daylight in the house. Are these factors a problem?

so in essence once my system seems sustainable I can grow fem autos, crop and run lights 24/0.

not yet I've just been germinating bag seeds and trying to think of a simple yet efficient plumbing system I will attach some pictures. Basically I want to start them off in my little reservoir pump station that I'm busy designing continuously fed water into a gravel medium via irrigation hose (with tiny holes) to spray the root system within the gravel allowing the roots to drop into the reservoir and grow to whatever size it can grow to.)

There are far lighter, and better, ways to make a great CFL fixture with PVC, hacksaw and a can of glue. Or you can make that Frankenstein contraption and hope it never falls.

In my experience CFL is not a cost effective or efficient way to flower plants. By the time you buy this piece and that piece and a bunch of CFL's and then wire the whole dang mess you could have just bought a nice air cooled HID that would have better penetration and produce better buds.

,Also, one light is way easier to manage than 20 CFL's.
HID is easy to air cool which keeps temps under control. How can you air cool 20 CFLs?

Veg with a few CFL's and buy an HPS whether it's a 150w setup for $70 or a 1000w for under $200. In the end you will be glad that you did.

I'm from south Africa well I have got s little make shift setup day 3 posting pics now. I have the setup and actual technical know how of how it works and have made some plans to construct a large growing cabinet with tank enclosed it should look pretty mad. And ita going to be in a cabinet about 6 foot high. This is what I have done so far and what I have achieved as a make shift!
Haha grilled plans as always!!

thanks for the awsome info will look into hps is LED sufficient for 2 autos in a big cupboard? Read alot about Full spectrum LEDs

LEDs are more efficient from economical stand point. You don't need full spectrum Led grow lights for growing weed. Only red and blue spectrum are needed for cannabis plants. I use LEDs and I"ve never regret about this.

I've always been interested in LEDs. Have any plant pics using LEDs?
