Growing differences between HPS and LED?

In flower I had to use 2 tbs /gallon in my last grow when I learned what was going on. Might have been because I didn't give enough in Veg stage as it takes a few weeks to see signs in the leaves.

This grow I started cal/mag midway in Veg stage 1 tbs and started to see signs in the leaves so I started 2 tbs gallon and things are looking better now and in first week 12/12 cycle
 
Ok....so the past several days I tried to ease up on the cal/mag. I am not sure...but I have an issue with only 1 girl and her sisters do not have the issue or any other girls in the grow right now.

Is this the result of magnesium or manganese deficiency?

It is only on some of the fan leaves.....

Someone mentioned possibly using cal/mag? I am growing in soil and using FF trio with bloom/budding crystals at low levels. Also tape water use.

You don't need cal-mag in soil. Use lime. It's a shitload cheaper, has more calcium and also magnesium.

I mean how available to the plant is it or does it need to be broken down by microbes before it's available. If so at this point it might not be worth adding but in the future it would make it ideal as an amendment

Oh for fucks sake...

It's fucking lime. You mix it in with your soil. That's it. You're done. It dissolves slowly as you water.

If you're already growing, you can put some in a container of water and dissolve it and pour it in. Or you can sprinkle it across the top of the soil. Or both.

It's basically a solid form of cal-mag only much, much cheaper.

But stay with cal-mag if you enjoy blowing a shit ton of money when you don't have to.

Lol why so hostile over a question? I'm switching to dirt next year so trying to pick up some info is all.

Relax I ask because some nutrients are less available. Synthetic are made to be extremely available. I'm going to look into it as possibly I could use it in hydro if it's readily available as you say

  • a liquid containing 2% calcium and less than .5% magnesium that you mix with water and pour into your soil to be absorbed by the roots.
  • a solid already in the soil containing 22% calcium and 14% magnesium that slowly desolves as you water and is absorbed by the roots or can be dissolved in water and poured into the soil and absorbed by the roots?
See how stupid that question is?

They're BOTH dissolved in water and poured into soil to be absorbed by the roots. The difference is that lime is a fraction of the cost, contains far more nutrients, dissolves slowly over time so that if you mix in proper proportions (the instructions are on the bag) you'll never have to worry about calcium or magnesium during your grow.

So "availability" isn't the point. They both, in soil, go in the same exact way it's just that lime is always there from the start and never needs to be messed with and cal-mag you have to add twice per week and cost you about 10 times as much.
 
Yeah not soluble in water so you can't just dissolve it. No good for hydro. Also depends on the type of lime not all lime contains magnesium and yes it does take time for availability. So seems like my question was pretty dam valid.

You got a real issue with a simple question. It's a valid question do some research. Not all amendments are immediately available to correct an issue. Most are designed to prevent.

Ok...thanks for helping....i guess......now that I know spending $12 on a bottle of liquid cal/mag is a shit ton of coin!

But beyond that trivial bit.......are you thinking I have a calcium .....or a magnesium deficiency?

It does. I've done it for years. IN SOIL YOU CAN DO THAT FOR A MORE IMMEDIATE EFFECT.

Cal-mag is for hydro only. You don't need cal-mag in soil I've stated that CLEARLY from the word go you idiot.
