Growing Down South(New Zealand)

hey guys, long time reader,1st time poster.

spring has just began down here and sun is shining. anyways i plan to be growing at the bottom of the valley on my property as there is a fresh water spring which seems the perfect water supply + no one ever goes there. have pre prepared my 8 growing spots. and have added horse manure to the dirt weeks ago, recently checked up on spots and a couple are looking choice with plenty of worms but some very dry and clumpy. so have prepared a 30kg of potting mix and horse manure to take down and add to all of them, especially the clumpy dry ones.

am i doing the right thing/s?

welcome to RIU Kiwi , be careful you don't want the soil too hot with the manure ,has it been composted

no bought 2 sacks of it for $2 outside the local horse racing stables, i have plowed and mixed it up pretty fine though. (fine meaning very small peices)

it will burn your roots if you use too much ,use a good potting soil to amend the soil .

sounds good mate, i also have unlimited access to lime,meat n bone and fishmeal due to best friend owning an animal feed mill. any use for such ingredients just yet?

add it to the manure and make one bad ass compost pile
