Growing Haze

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I'm about to begin my first grow - a DWC setup. I will be growing Angel's Breath (Mango Haze x Afghan Haze). I have read on many sites that Haze is best left to the experienced grower. My question is, what do I need to do/not do to ensure a successful grow? Is there anything in particular I need to be especially aware of or cautious of? One site recommended to immediately induce flowering after 2 weeks of transplanting. This strain can take up to 12-13 weeks to flower. I was thinking I would get a better yield if I grew for 1-3 months in vegetative state. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help!

You wil definitely get more yield if you veg for a while, if size and time isn't an issue I recommend vegging.

Since it's your first grow check these out:

and ALWAYS remember to research before you buy ANYTHING.

and as long as you dont kill your plants,
your first grow went great

hey bro i would recommend vegging about 2 weeks maybe 3. you would end up with 5 foot plants, if your light cant handle this you would be best to still wait this lomg and top it.. they generally take 3 weeks to develop enough to flower even if flowering straight from seed so they will end up being stretchy and a similar height

Hi,

I have no experience with hydro but I do grow purple haze.

-With haze in general, you want to have lower nute levels than normal(not sure about AB though).

-Another thing is, if you don't want to veg the plant out and then flip to 12/12(5 months for mine 12/12 from seed for pre flowers). You can speed up its flowering by making it root bound, transplant it out 2-4 weeks after you start seeing pistil formation(i don't know how you would do this in DWC though). They still grow big if root bound; my purple haze male is in a 10cmx10cm pot and is about 1.2 meters tall.

-I suggest using 12/12 from seed, with haze(pure or mostly haze/sativa dom hybrids) as they tend to stretch crazy, so don't worry about it being too small. Pure sativas and sativa dom hybrids make up for the additional veg growth indicas require with their longer flowering times. It also helps reduces the cost of a longer growing period. If you have the space for it though, let it veg for the 1-3 months and you should get a massive yield.

-It is more important to make sure you have the space for it, as they can easily out grow a small space fast! In my grows, the space 3-4 pure indica plants take up is the same use by 1 pure sativa plant(in a side by side grow) so plan accordingly.

-In my experience, i found that haze doesn't respond well to 12/12 with MH taking 1 month longer to show pistils compared to HPS. Also with lighting during flowering, perhaps you can try 11/13 or 10/14 light cycle about 5 weeks after initial pistil formation instead of 12/12? It will save you money and speed up the flowering time of long flowering strains as well as stopping "sativa re-flowering".

IMO don't think AB would be as hard to grow as a pure haze. Don't worry too much man, you should be fine....good luck! :joint:

Yeah man, you're not making your first go too easy on yourself. DWC with a 12-14 wk sativa...

I use tomato cages to keep sativas under control... im not sure how you can make that happen with a dwc, but, it would help you out.

If you're set on DWC, then you're set on DWC... but, if you are flexible.. I would suggest coco coir for your first grows... it is easy to start seeds in, easy to grow plants in. It's hard to over water and it's easy to fix root zone issues.
I would suggest something that is clean enough and buffered, ready to use right out of the bag... Canna coco, H&G coco, ReadyGro...
After a handful of plants get into some technical hydro systems for kicks if that's your thing.
